thighs and bums...help

What is a good way to tone your thighs and bums without buying any expensive equipment and that will fit into a hectic routine, so when I wake up and before bed? Thank you in advance.

You have more than one bum?

Hey, I've been doing lunges and squats, sumu squats and deadlifts to target my thighs. I must say after four weeks of doing them I have noticed such a big difference its great! I have worked out for years but always avoided these moves because of how hard they are, but I guess it mind over matter.

Do them and you will not only see a difference you will feel a difference. But drink lots of water. Good luck!

hiya could you please tell me what deadlifts are please,im trying tone up the same areas but havent heard off that one?

You can do squats and lunges and deadlifts and everything else, but doing it when you wake up and before bed does not sound like a part of a regular routine. You have to work the rest of your body as well. Those exercises will target those muscles, but they will NOT reduce fat.

- I do NOT recommend doing this with a straight leg. I recommend bending the knee slightly.

i see what you are saying about not wanting to lose fat, but when it comes to fat loss, women tend to lose from the hips and thighs last. if you do try to lose more, you will most likely lose it from there. then you can combine it with proper exercises, like the ones mentioned above (although i personally have a thing against lunges, as I've read multiple places the can wreak havoc on your knees and back). stick with some good cardio exercises, like the stationary bike and you should be good.

don't get me wrong, you won't be targeting the butt and thighs with the bike (just had to add that since there really isn't such a thing as spot reduction)

hope it helps a little. If you can get some pics up we could prolly understand the whole not wanting to lose more fat part; i mean, if you a super skinny and just don't have an ass at all, then we have a different situation on our hands ;)

Lyn of course always bend your knees slightly but there are called straight legged deadlifts but its a rule isn't it to always keep your elbows and knees soft never locked.

I don't have any fat I want to loose from there at all. I have never had any to loose. I just want tofirm it up a bit. It doesn't matter what I look like for you to tell me how to do that.

hmmm....that seems to have been taken the wrong way. although i did tell you how you could do that.

exercises that are good at working that area:

-squat
-lunges (although I hate them , they are really good)
-leg press
-good mornings (good for working hams...i personally love a woman with good shape to her legs)
-Deadlifts (i do romanian deads, but if you've never done them before, stick to less intense version. AND stay low weight, you can hurt yourself alot)
-front squats

I would suggest using relatively low weight and high (12-15) reps in order to tone.
If you plan on adding any muscle mass, raise the weight and drop the reps to around 6-10

either way, i suggest doing 3 sets, not including a possible very light weight warm up of each exercise.

sorry if you were offended by the previous comment, nothing was meant by it. only trying to help

- Mike

It is a rule to enver lock out elbows/knees. But a lot of people do not know that. I just think the name of that exercise is not the best :D

To firm up or add shape without losing any more fat... you need to add muscle there. The exercises above will help, but I recommend lifting in a 6-8 rep range. Otherwise you will just be working what you have.

Hi Sexy Silver. Even though you do not have a gym membership there are exercises for the legs/butt you can do at home. Do you have an aerobic step?? Dumbells??

You can do the obvious squats and lunges but also step ups, lateral leg raises, side planks with lateral leg raise, squats against the wall, single leg squats, supermans (just your legs) squeezing your glutes, bridges with feet on a physio ball....

If that is all you have time for then so be it. You do what you can with your time and financial situation....Good luck!!!

I used to do step aerobics all the time, but I lost my job so I had to quit. I have no idea where to get a step from, otherwise I wouldn't be untoned :p I love step.
Thanks.

You can buy them at any fitness supply store or order them online. The nice ones are pretty expensive but you can get a cheaper one for about $30.

Women should be sticking to slightly more sets (4) then men and slighty lower rep count. (8) I don't believe the low weight high rep scheme.

I repectfully disagree :) Low weights/high reps has its place. High weights/lowe reps has its place. But the deciding factor is not gender. Women NEED to lose body fat. Strength training by adding some lean, beautiful, toned muscle is an excellent way to do that.

in addition to all of these good suggestions...do the exercises with energizing music...you can surprise yourself of how much farther you can go!!!
