The war against fat

Hi forum friends,

I haven't been around for a while on the forum. I think all the friends who were here when I was here about two years ago have become healthier and moved on. I, on the other hand, lost a lot of weight at one point because of stress, and now I am back to ballooning up. It has taken me a lot of courage to come and talk about my weight because I haven't been this heavy before, now at 147lbs. But now that I am here, I want to get serious and start logging, keeping track of what I eat and how much I exercise. I started out earlier this week. It has been going ok so far. I hope you can join in my war against fat. I am here to be accountable, keep track, encourage others who are on the same boat and be inspired. Wish me luck.

Hi!!

I am on the same boat as you. I was weighing 160 lbs on Jan. 16 as I am charting my weight now. I don't know what got into me but I realized enough was enough, I am determined to weigh 120 like I did a few years ago. That Monday I started watching what I was eating as I was contemplating on what kind of diet plan I could get on. By Thursday of that week (Jan. 19) I was on what they call the "21 day Challenge" at My Fit Foods (a place that offers healthy meals for pick up). Anyway so far since that dreadful day when I discovered I was 160 lbs (about 10 days ago).. I have lost 7 lbs!!! Yes.. I weighed in at 153.4 this morning. The first few days I was losing a lb. a day it seemed.. then the last 3 days I was 154 so I was not too happy... today 153!.. I'm soooo happy!!!.. My clothes feels really lose. In fact my sleeping shorts slipped down off me yesterday. lol

I hate running on a treadmill but I LOVE dancing. I joined the community YMCA and while I used to go once or twice a week for zumba.. since Ive been on the 21 day Challenge I am going everyday for some kind of workout. They have all sorts of classes. I have been working out 1 or 2 hours a day!!!.. It's crazy!.. I never thought I would have the energy or urge to want to do so. I just really want to lose all this weight that has had me feeling sluggish the past few years. I'm really excited and hope I dont give up...I'm hoping I make a lifestyle change this time and that it's not just a phase.

Keep up the good work!.. sounds like you're on to something with all that yummy healthy food your're eating. I have no idea where you live but if there is a My Fit Foods you might want to check it out.

Anyway.. I'll keep you posted on my progress and I'll be looking forward to yours!!! Have a great day!!!

Leli

I don't know what kind of day was today. Not too happy with my food choices but I could've done worse. Didn't get to go on the treadmill today. Will try to wake up early for a run tomorrow.

Foodlog 01/25

L: Beans soup with mushroom and garlic

Hi Leli, thanks for stopping by and congratulations on your weighloss so far. Sounds like a great plan, but unfortunately, it is not available where I am at. Great that it is working out for you. Do you have a journal? Would love to come by and say hi.

Good luck, and hope to hear from you soon.

Grumpy today. I weighed myself this morning and the scale said 150.2lbs. WTF?? How did i gain 3.2lbs in three days?? Ugh.

Ok so this goes to show that the weighing machine cannot be trusted. I was 150lbs this morning, i had breakfast of fruit and yogurt and worked out for about one hour and weighed myself again, just for the heck of it. and guess what i am back to 147lbs. what gives? whatever, just goes to show that weighing machine cannot be trusted and i will go by the way i feel in terms of my clothes etc.

Scales are notorious liars... it can all be going oh so smoothly and when you least it expect it ... BLAM!!! they turn on you...

Great idea to start paying less attention to the scale and more to the clothes... With clothes all we have to worry about it that nasty dryer who can also be pretty shady in its dealings with us.... especially around the holidays...

So after my morning grumpiness and my war with the frigging weigh machine, my day went a little bit better. I have been cursing that little box with digital numbers all day, though. NOT going to go near it in a while. Work was busy busy busy. Worked out for exactly an hour in the morning, then off to work and meetings meetings meetings.

Food log

B: Yogurt with 1 small cup of grapes

S: Small gouda cheese and TJ fig bar

L: Big salad with homemade mustard, honey, olive oil dressing, dried cherries and fresh grapes

S: pumpkin seed (sooooo good!! but so high in calories but high in protein too, so yay!)

D: Chickpea and potatoes with a small piece of bread and lots of bakchoi.

Workout: 60 mins on treadmill burned 550 cal.

Looking forward to tomorrow, but weekend can't come fast enough. Thank god tomorrow is Friday.

Absolutely, instead of cursing the weighing machine, I bet I will be throwing abuses at the dryer but it is used to my abuse. :)

Endurance, nice to see you are still here. Yes, and I am back, and this time with a vengeance. Left India in 2010 and still miss it everyday. How are you? Do you have a diary here? A new one or are you posting on the one you had before? So good to see you.

TGIF. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Lots to do this weekend, people visiting etc etc. There's a huge dinner I have to go to tomorrow, going to be good all day, work out and see how the dinner goes. We are going to my favorite restaurant so I want to enjoy the food. Sunday I have breakfast with some friends. Going to be careful again. I want to work out both the days. Fingers crossed it will happen. I am going to be traveling next week, so I want to be as good as possible this week.

My weigh-in is Tuesday.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone.

Weigh-in tomorrow. Yikes.

Weekend was all kinds of fun. I was ok on Saturday until dinner time and then I had way too much wine and waay too much good food. Yikes. I am not going to feel guilty about it. I did work out on Saturday and ran for about 40 mins.

Sunday was relatively better but ate a few things I am not proud of. It will take time, but I was careful not to eat a few things I wouldn't have thought twice about eating until just two weeks ago. No workout but i figured body needed a break.

Today was amazing. Ran for 60 mins around 600 cals. Here's how the day went.

I weighed in at 149 yesterday morning.

well i personally think that by using scales along with a chart was a big pat on the back for me whilst losing weight,,even when i was down to losing 1-2 lbs a week it kept me focussed and my morale up.

hi juni,,im new here but just noticed you said you ran on treadmill for an hour,,thats some going,,phew !,,but tell me at what time of day do you train,,

well i personally think that by using scales along with a chart was a big pat on the back for me whilst losing weight,,even when i was down to losing 1-2 lbs a week it kept me focussed and my morale up...i used to weigh 15.7 stone and got down to 10.7 within 4 months,,believe me its a huge bonus to keep seeing that dial go down..perhaps try weighing yourself when you visit the bathroom in the morning,,,and mark your loss of in the form of a chart.,,good luck with your goals,,tc

air 69- yes, using the scales once a week is good. everything in moderation, including checking your weight on scales. i am the kind of person who will obsess over things like this. so for me, weigh-ins once a week is good. as for the treadmill- i do like running, and have been running for the last few years (off and on). i can't run for an hour everyday, but once in a while, i push myself. hope your weight-loss is going well.
