The Tattooed Lady

It's a significant step forward when you start using a site like fitday proactively - that is, to plan your meals/calories/nutrition for the day, rather than just logging it in in hindsight.

Very true and I've started to plan the meals instead of going at it like "what if I put this with that and see where the %'s lay?" which I have been doing, but like we've all said, it's a learning process and you learn everyday. I'm not afraid of going over on %'s too much, but just needing more protein during the day. I'm not trying to get it dead on (40/30/30), but getting close would be nice.

You going good, girl! ^_^b
I am having most difficult time with my carb vs protein. Planning meals is a great idea. I kinda did it today, but only with whatever food I have on hand. It's fun, but takes time :( I am hoping that after more experience with trials and errors. Keep it up!
(** hehe i am taking notes from your meals btw ;) so awesome of you to post it to share it with us. By looking at a complete day meal it really helps me learning to figure out the %age look of a whole day. Thanks!) :D

Well thank you on taking notes about my food...*blushes* I've never had anybody say that to me before. Like I've said before, my carbs are still above 50%, but like you, still learning what it takes to bring them down. Sometimes I need a refesher on carbs (hint hint, please somebody tell me what they are).

Have you started fitday yet? If you have and still want help, link it in your diary and we can let you know our opinons. I used to count calories so I never thought I would need fitday, but now I wished I used it before. I so love it.

Another thing you can do is go here. Stingo and I highly recommend it when it comes to planning out meals ahead of time. This is where we get all our meals. Plus it's cool when it comes to giving gifts on a shoe-sting.

As I said before, today I'm going to try to get my protein % up. So far I'm doing good, but I tried to eat three egg white, but it didn't work. I could only stomach one, but one is better than none. I think I might try one day eating two whole eggs and see how that works out.

I got closer on protein today, only 5% shy of 30%...woohoo!!

Meal 1 - oatmeal w/raisins and brown sugar, coffee
Meal 2 - cottage cheese w/fruit
Meal 3 - turkey sandwich w/mayo, carrots, milk
Meal 4 - egg white, cottage cheese, apple
Meal 5 - chicken, mac and cheese, broccoli

When I went to put the broccoli cuts in fitday..it didn't like it, so had to use the closest thing. I actually had one cup of broccoli instead of the whole 10z package. Plus the mac and cheese and broccoli is good mixed together.

i had the same problem with eating egg whites at first as well. I think most people will say you either love it or hate it. I dont mind it now i eat my eggs while im doing something else to kind of distract me and i just keep chewing until its gone. good luck with that protein

I agree - after eating whole eggs for the longest time it's hard to go to just the whites, but you make the transition eventually.

The other day on Oprah she was talking about her diet tips and what she eats and one of the things she eats was Wasa Crispbread, because she likes things that crunch. Now mind you I'm not a big fan of rye, but I thought I would try them and see if they are everything she says they are. The package I picked up is rye w/seasame and oats. I haven't tried them yet but she makes her turkey sandwiches with them instead of tortillas or flatbreads with mayo and tomato slices.

I was thinking I can spread pb on a slice for a snack. I was also thinking I could have one with my cottage cheese (not the cottage cheese w/fruit). We'll see what lovely combo I can come up with.

The crispbread is good. It's not what I expected, but wasn't really sure what I was expecting. I was expecting the overpowering taste of rye, but I didn't get that. I decided to eat cottage cheese with it.

I'm not sure if I would call supper a cheat meal but it's a homemade pizza. I say no because it's not fastfood and I made it so I know what's in it, but I would say yes because it is pizza. Guess it's all in who you ask and if it's considered a cheat meal, then I'll have to be good this weekend.

Tonight's supper is defintely a cheat meal after I saw how much fat and calories is in one slice. It'll take me 4-ever to work this off...:D

Ok, so it wasn't has bad as I thought it would be, but it did send my fat % high and my carbs % low and I'm still under on calories.

Homemade pizza is actually made with pretty healthy ingredients, but you do have to watch your portion control.

That's what it sounds like to me too and I'm hungry every 2 hrs, but I can usually hold off until hour 3. If I'm really busy I can hold off until hour 4, but that's not very often.

Which is the way it should work - you should be starting to get hungry right around when it's time for your next meal (about 2 or 3 hours).

Oh I do, believe me I do. It's always comes like clockwork. That's one thing I can always count on. I actually just finished my last meal around 9:30.
