The New Girl- SoSel

I have decided not to read other people's introductions until I write my own, so that I can say what feels most natural to me. Here goes!

I made the change yesterday, yet again, to get this weight off of my body. I can't run (and maybe never will), I'm always sick, I feel uncomfortable, and I never want to see myself in the mirror. I mean, the list goes on! But there is a light at the end of the tunnel for me. It's kinda a long story, so I'll work to keep it short. My father and grandfather have always been large men. I looked to them to not feel so bad about my weight after having children. I would blame them, since I never was a skinny child. (I later found out that my parents just fed me anything to keep me queit.) Then 2 years ago my father was diagnosed diabetic. My grandfather knew he was, and could barely keep himself stable. My father, being deathly afraid of needles , decided to lose the weight and lose it fast. He did! He lost roughly 80 lbs the first year and around 70 the next! He inspired my mother, grandafather, and grandmother to do the same. Our family is into healthy eating, and it's a positive push for me.

Yet, I'm married and away from home. I have to put my foot down and do this on my own. It's really hard. I hope that someone here will open their heart to me and help me. I'm always around to help!

Hey SoSel! I'm at risk of diabetes too. You'd think that knowing this my whole life, I would have made a point of adopting a healthy lifestyle early on, but I didn't. Never too late to change, I hope. How old are your kids?

hi sosel,
knowing your family history can be a big factor in choosing your lifestyle. my mom is diabetic, tries to watch her weight but is a late night snacker and is still about 40 pounds over what i think she should be. i work in healthcare, and have seen firsthand the damage that diabetes does to the entire body...it definitely makes me want to stay healthy!! good luck, and you're right...you're not alone here! i've only been logging on for about a week now, and am so touched by the notes i see people leaving for one another. stick with us, and i know you will have great results!!

Good luck!
I'm new too so if you want any support just give me a shout! This site does look pretty cool, lots of people with the same goal and kind and willing enough to help each other!

I have 5 1/2 yr old girl and a 3 yr old boy. They both have red hair, but she has green eyes while he has blue eyes. They're so darn cute!

Hi SoSel! Welcome! Yes, you can do it! And you can get support - this is a great place for that! Are you going to start a diary? :)

Oh yes, I have started a diary! I enjoy writing. I feel that it's going to be therapuetic for me, especially in the beginning. I don't really know what to say just yet, but I'm going to give it a try!

Thanks for all the kind comments everyone! I love writing and using the computer, so feel free to leave a message any time.

Mrs. SoSel
