The long road

Thanks for the kind words guy!

I'm not going to make it anywhere near 2300cal today. I think I'm going to end up at 1500, which seems to be a popular number around this forum anyway. I realize that it's not a one number fits all situation but hey what I can say.

The thing I found interesting though, was the fact that: the more I ate, the more I felt like I needed to eat. Now, this isn't the same as hunger, because I wasn't necessarily hungry. For example I had some applesauce (I know, makes me sound like an old woman), but after I was finished with the amount I had allotted myself I felt like I needed to continue eating, when I wasn't even hungry in the first place.

Another thing I've noticed is that if I'm not hungry initially, if I just eat because it's time to do so, I will start to feel hungry as I'm eating...not sure if this is a mind game my body is playing, or if this is actual hunger. It subsides fairly quickly though. I dunno

Anyway - here are the stats for today

Brunchish - 100
Lunch - 380
Snack - 460
Dinner - 300
Snack - 300

Total 1540. Now that's adding in the snack I have yet to eat, but I'll be sure it eat it.

I also had a fun little experience with the scale I purchased. I got it home and "fired it up" I stepped on it and it said 240...lol dont I wish. Got back on it a 2nd time and it said 322...so needless to say that smartass scale went back to the store in short order. We're good now though!

Imagine that! A psychic scale! It obviously is reading into the future.;)

OHH i want that scale...to think even for a minute that it could say 190..*dream dream*...lol..ok but this is you not me...lol. I know its frustrating to think ahead of all we have to loose, I have to loose like 100 really but im starting small..lol..SO watch those calories, ...dont eat too little...like they all said in here, body sees less calories and goes into starvation mode and starts to store as fat.....Keep the fight alive...good luck ...lol..I know im a bit melodramatic..it comes from being latin...hahaha

I think studies have shown that if you expect to have food at a certain time you start to feel hungry, sort of anticipation hunger, although I cant remember who did these studies or what they were called though!

It can take up to 20 minutes for your body to realise your tummy is full, that could be why you continue to feel hungry after eating.

Well done on your progress so far!

Thanks for the kind words Halo :)

I'm thinking about incorporating Subway and Slimfast into my diet for working days. I'm thinking I could have a slimfast in the mornings and then I could buy various subways during the week and eat them at work for dinner. That way I would know exactly what the nutrition values are and would be guessing with the food in the EDR.

The only reason I'm considering the slimfast shakes are because they contain a lot of vitamins and such, according to the cans, and are quick and easy.

Anyone have any thoughts on that?

What I don't like about Slimfast is the amount of ingredients in them that Ic an't pronounce :) and that it's not really satisfying because there's no chewing - but that could just be me..

Subway is my restaurant of choice if I don't bring lunch from home - it's mostly fresh, and not highin calories -though the sodium is a little high...

Thanks for the reply maleficent. I had planned on stopping by one of the 24 "gyms" on the way home from work tonight to get signed up, but now that I think about it I doubt the office is open at 2am. So I guess tomorrow I'll do that.

I think I'm going to go down the subway road. That, to me, is far more convenient then trying to mess with food at work, and even though I've not given into temptation, it's best not to tempt oneself.

I'm going to end up rounding the day out at around 1400 calories, which seems to be a nice number for me at this time.

Well I think I may have gone over my self assigned calorie limit yesterday, not that it’s a huge deal because I know that it was not way out of control or anything like that. It was a very busy night at work and I didn’t have to mess around and have something made that wasn’t already there, so I grabbed some ::Gasp:: friend fish…I’m not stressing it though. I’m really anxious to weight in, but I’ve decided it’s going to be a weekly Friday thing.

Time to buy a new belt because the one I have is as small as it goes and I need it to be like another notch smaller! Yay!

Good luck everyone!

yeah! :) i love going down a belt notch.. it sometimes happens even when i havent lost weight because of me being trimmer due to more exercise etc.
i would stick to a balanced healthy breakfast instead of slim fast though.. something like porridge or muesli just to keep your energy up til lunch time.
do you tend to eat a lot around evening meal times?
congrats on your weight loss so far! x

Not really, I dont really get the urge to eat a lot of food at this point, not sure why. I agree though, slimfast isn't likely to be the best breakfast solution, but by the time I get up in the morning like 10ish (I know, I'm lazy, but I work late and play late lol ) breakfast is more like brunch so it's kind of a toss up.

Thanks for the love Sophie & Nola :D

So I find myself at work. It's about 10pm, three more hours to go until the end of my shift, and I get the strangest craving for potatoes...I mean need-some-potato-now type of deal. I regret to say that I went to the lounge and found that the only thing in the potato category at that time were waffle cut French fries. Which I found irresistible. I ate like a hand full's worth.

It's not that I'm over concerned about the calorie total of those things because I'm well below my maintenance and I did a fair amount of walking today at work, but it's the fact that I HAD TO HAVE THEM NOW!!! And potatoes of all things...how strange.

carb craving :)i used to get it with suggarry cereals. i would haveto hold myself back and sometimes i would just run to the kitchen and scoop handfuls out of the box and stuff them into my mouth  thats all over with now .. ive weened myself off the sugar lol
so at least you know you arent the only one .. except mine is more extreme haha. and well done to sticking to only a handful - portion control ;) x

hey there look like you're making progress :)

Dont worry too much about the cravings, we all get them when we start to cut out foods we've been eating for a long time. I found I stopped getting cravings (at least not such strong ones) after a while, hang in there!

Like Sophie said, well done for sticking to just the hand full :)

So I decided to weigh myself this morning just to see...+2 lbs...now just how in the hell does you gain weight when you're in defect. I’ve been doing some reading and it would seem that this whole “oh my you went into starvation mode over night” just simply does not occur, nor does your metabolism have the ability to stop on a dime, granted these things can be accomplished but not in the time frame most people like to claim.

It makes no sense how you can have all negatives and come out with a positive number.

Bleh

Well I guess out of spite for myself I went to the athletic club and purchased 2 year membership. So I'll start hitting the gym every night after work, well morning after work rather.

I was tempted to just say...well if I'm eating correctly and not losing weight then I might as well eat the foods I really want because it's not going to make a difference...then I came to my senses, the scale is now decidedly the devil.

So I weighed myself this morning and I lost the mysterious 2lbs plus an extra...water weight perhaps? At any rate that's going to get annoying really quickly.
