The last pounds are the hardest!

I'll start by saying I'm pretty proud of my accomplishments so far. I've been overweight for as long as I can remember. I've been yo-yo dieting for over 10 years now. I'd lose a few lbs, hit a plateau get discouraged and give up. Over and over and over again. At one point I was doing all right, I dropped 60lbs bringing me down to 220lbs. Then I found out I was pregnant and I just stopped focusing on my weight. The next thing I knew, I'd had my baby and I was at the highest weight I'd ever been 299lbs.

Finally I'm doing pretty well. I don't know what the real initiative finally was (maybe it was that I feared gaining that one last pound to put me the the 300 mark so bad..) or maybe it was the promise of a gorgeous size 12 wedding gown for free. I've been engaged now for almost 3 years, I want to get married but I don't want to wear a giant white balloon when I do it.

I've been going to TOPS for over a year now, I'm the leader of my group now and they help a lot but that's only one evening a week, I guess I'm hoping you guys could be here for me in the middle of the week (or the night) when I'm tempted to run to the freezer for that big bucket of ice cream that's in there (it's for my kids I swear!)

All in all I'm at the lowest that I have been since I was in junior high school! I literally cried when I got on that scale and they moved the big block over, signifying I was finally under 200lbs for the first time in 11 years!

But here I am stuck at the worst plateau I've ever been at. I can't seem to lose any more. I work out, I eat right, I do all the things I'm suppose to do but my body seems to be laughing at me. Ha Ha fooled you, you're never going to be slim!

Out of 119 lbs I 31lbs to go. Anyone have a proven great idea to give myself another little kick start?

Thanks for listening.

I'm not too sure of any ideas but I just had to tell you how GREAT you look! That is such motivation for me...wow. You look amazing!

Thank you so much. I'm still working on self esteem issues that I've always battled from being an overweight teen (kids are so cruel sometimes) I'm finally learning to take and try and believe compliments and it's people like you that help me keep working at this :D

Thanks again.

Wow, I dont have any advice for the last part except keep at it but you are one heck of a great inspiration for me. Thank you so much. You look amazing.

Weight loss Plateau sucks

Can understand how you feel,am stuck in a plateau myself for last 3.5 months which is extremely frustrating, the online advise i have read says this plateau lasts for 2-3 weeks only but mine seems to go on forever. Some online resources on overcoming this plateau suggested to start eating more calories and go on 3 days sustenance + 1 day maintainance diet and treat oneself to the occassional burger/pizza.
Tried that and gained 4 pounds in few days,Now struggling to loose this extra weight i put on.
SO my suggestion is dont try the prescribed method of eating more calories in the form of junk food as some sites suggest, to get over the plateau.

Spectra, you look fab!! You have a lovely hour glass figure, and are already looking slim :) . Are you working out a lot, because if you are burning fat and putting muscle on, this may explain the plateau, as muscle weighs more than fat. Do you measure yourself, because this may be a truer measure of what you are achieving ;)

You look amazing. If i looked like you I'd be a much happier woman.

Congratulations on your success.

Maybe try the low carb thing for a bit. that can really get your fat burning. Don't go the high fat options though, not good for you. Also, when you go back to carbs, introduce them slowly so you don't stack on the weight.

I've also found drinking HEAPS of water will move the weight faster cause it flushes out of your system.

You probably knew all that anyway. Hope it helped some.

You look fantastic.. :)
keep it up :)

Have you tried varying your workouts? maybe try some different classes or activities to change your routine.. it seems to help me when i stop losing.
Or try some interval training.. work hard for a minuter, then less harder, harder etc.. just some suggestions, u have probably tried them anyway.
oh wel/Good luck and i hope things improve!
