The Crazy Step Instructor's Diary

Hey guys! Feels good to be back on the forum again, I had a diary here a while ago, and then got busy and started slacking and eventually quiting posting alltogether. Since then my diet has kind of gone downhill a bit - it has gotten better, and is about as good as it was once before. I teach ALOT of high impact BodyStep classes, and a few other types here and there. I am trying to loose that last little bit of flab around my midsection. There is not much, but I would like to be able to wear just a sports bra and not have anything jiggle during class;) Anyhow, any critique or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also I work nights a veterinary emergency center, from midnight to 8am, every other week. Weird schedule, but I really like it. I am on my week off right now, and I go back to work tonight for the next 7 days.

Here are my statistics right now -
height- 5'9
age- 21
sex - female
weight - ~140ish
BF% - no idea, will try to get it checked tonight when I go to class.

Here is my day so far....

8am - bowl of oatmeal (the real stuff, not instant) with 1 banana, a handful of blueberries, and a handful of almonds.

10am - tablespoon or so of natural peanut butter on plain rice cake, 1 apple

noon - one of those hickory smoked tuna packets, spinach salad with chick peas and baby carrots, about two tablespoons light italian dressing. piece of dark chocolate, I am so bad! But it was 88% cacoa!

Okay that is as far as I have gotten. I am about to have a snack, as I have to head to the gym soon for the evening... two classes tonight, and I have new choreography for step that I have to learn.
I try not to count calories too much, I got down to 119 lbs last august before I was an instructor, and would obsessively work out and not eat enough. I could not lift crap as far as weights go, and my stamina suffered during classes. So I try now to keep my calories at least 2000-2400, does this sound reasonable? Thanks guys, your awesome!

Just got back from the gym, practiced choreography for about an hour or so before class, then did a 1 hr spin class, then 30 minute abs class.
Here is what the rest of my diet today looked like

Before the gym I had a bowl of oatmeal and an apple
Between classes this evening I had a small protein shake
Got home around 8pm and had 1/2 cup brown rice, 1 turkey cutlet, steamed broccoli, and another apple. I had to have the apple, I was really hungry waiting for dinner to cook;) Had a small glass of cranberry juice, light.

Going to try and take a small catnap before work, but I am kinda revved up from classes, so we will see;)
 
ugh, busy day, hot at the gym too! Do you burn more calories when it is scorching hot and you are working out? Man the sweat was POURING off my forehead, and litterally dripping onto the floor during pushups...good greif! They need to crank up the AC or something... Anyhow, did not do too well last night at work, well, it could have been worse. The place was booby-trapped! There were three big 1 lb bags of M and M's - peanut butter, milk chocolate, and peanut ones. Also cupcakes, chcoolate sticks, reeses cups, and dark chocolate, and hershey bars...good greif!! I only had about 7 or 8 milk chocolate ones (they were the jumbo ones though...), and 3 peanut butter ones, and 2 peices of dark chocolate. I munched on some beef jerkey I brought last night, and ate my grilled chicken, piece of sweet potato, and peas that I brought for "dinner." Here is how my day looked today...

got home from work at 8:30am...
ate bowl of oatmeal with banana, blueberries, and almonds, and 1 apple.

Taught a step class with my best friend stephanie at 10:30 for an hour. Hehe its always fun trying to remember the right choreography and cue the class when you have no sleep;) We both got whey protein shakes after class, and ended up hanging out until about 1ish this afternoon.

Got home, and felt hungry, so I ate a spinach salad with carrots and chickpeas, with a bit of light italian dressing.

napped for an hour, and messed around the house until about 4pm. Needed to eat something before my next class...usually eat oatmeal, but I really wanted something sweet, so I broke down and had a bowl of honey nut chex cereal with skim milk. baaadd, and I had a stomach ache after that...milk and those carbs in cereals and such make my stomach upset.

taught hour step class with my boss Lisa, definatly fun, taught new choreo and managed to not screw it up "too" bad... Told them I would do pushups if I messed up to bad;)

Just got home, its about 7:30, ate piece of grilled salmon, half of a small sweet potato, and steamed broccoli. Ate an apple beforehand because I could not wait... going to try to nap, have to work tonight. still going on 1 hour of sleep... *yawn* Hope everyone is having a good week:)

man I am so tired... It is now 425pm, I just officially got up from trying to sleep today. What a LONG busy night last night at the hospital. We had patients crashing in all directions, surgerys, a billion treatments it seemed like, and 1 assistant that took forever to get stuff done. I did not stop running for 9 hours straight. For dinner all I was able to do was munch a bag of beef jerky all night long to keep me from feeling like I was starving. I was not able to eat anything really good for me. I did eat a few pieces of chocolate, but not much, just enough to keep me out of the bag.

I got home and had my usual bowl of oatmeal with blueberries, banana, almonds and an apple.
woke up at 1030am and had pria bar - 110 calories
woke up at 2ish and had bowl of cereal.
woke up now at 430 and had another bowl of cereal, but realized if I did not eat something healthy I was going to feel like crap tonight during class and get out of breath easier. So I had a spinach salad with a few carrots and just a few chick peas thrown on top.

I could not eat heavy today, the heat made me sick yesterday, and I still am not feeling to well. It is cold here today, hopefully the gym wont be quite so hot. It is awfully rainy though, hopefully people come to class. I cannot decide if I want to cook dinner tonight like usual or get a protein shake after class...

What a fun class:) did mostly new choreography and managed to not screw up too bad. I did mess about 3 times, but it was not bad at all. I still did 5 pushups for each time I messed up. One of the guys in class did my pushups with me and counted them off with me. :) good to know people still love you even after messing up! I think all of our instructors should have to do that when they screw up there choreo or they dont come to class prepared. Anyhow, for dinner I had a tuna fillet and a spinach salad with chick peas and carrots. yummy, and a glass of cranberry juice. working twelve hours straight tonight, then we have a demo up at the gym to a new class we are adding to the schedule. Supposedly no one is prepared for it, this should be interesting. Glad I am not teaching that class. It is a dance class - I am no dancer;) Well I hope everyone is enjoying there day. It is awfully cold and rainy today...hope tommorow is better. I am looking forward to beach weather...
