The Big Guy in China! 2 months of hard work, 28 pounds gone so far...

Hi everyone,

I am Sirant. I live and teach in China and life over here is very good. I travel, have a family, have a good job and pretty much just enjoy life. But being a big guy all my life, I always enjoyed it too much. At my heaviest I was around 350, size 54 jeans. I smartened up and over a few years lost 100 pounds. Then I went into professional wrestling and had a great time for awhile. At about 250 pounds and 34 years old I decided to explore the world and come to China. Met my wife here and started a life. But everything is soooo cheap here and I had recently ballooned up to 297 pounds and felt very uncomfortable and suffered very low energy. A few months ago I bought a scale and realized that it wasn't just my clothes shrinking, I was getting too big again. As you can see below.
(as much as I hate to say it, I am sucking IN my gut...)

That was a few months ago after a workout. Somwhere around 295 pounds....

But I started working my way up slowly, not losing much weight, but getting stronger and stronger. At the beginning of Decemeber I decided to really step it up. In the past 2 months I have dropped from 297 to the 270 you see below. I walk 30 minutes on my 1 hour lunch break at work, I walk 6km home from work every day, I go to the gym 2X a week and do various core, aerobic and yoga like exercises 6 times a week. I also eat 5-6 times a day so I never feel like binging and keep my metabolism up. So far it has been working. I am stronger, more confident and happier than any time in my past life. I do an average of 100 pushups a day in the office when I am bored. I look for ways to walk to where I want to go rather than bus or cab. And it's working. Its really working. I am currently 1 pound away from the 1/2 way mark to my goal weight. It is 10 pounds below when I was wrestling, but I suspect this time I will look 500X better.

As a reward I took myself to Thailand a couple weeks ago. I love this picture. To me I don't think I look much thinner, but I sure look happier. I hope you are all finding your happiness too!

Me in Thailand a couple weeks ago About 270...

Can you see the difference? I can't really yet, but I sure feel it.

If you are interested, I keep a daily blog called of what I am doing. It's hard work, but I do it because I enjoy it, not because I feel obligated to exercise to "get skinny".

congrats man, you do look a lot happier and skinnier. I am envious that you get to visit such awsome places. Do you happen to dabble in photography?

Wow - GOOD for you for getting control and doing what you need to do to reach your goals!

That Thailand picture of you is FANTASTIC :)
Keep up the good work!

I do dabble.... :)

Thanks a bunch, I really truly am happier, and want to help anyone I can get happier too.

Since I got my first digital camera I have pretty much been unstoppable with picture taking. And being here in China gives me heaps of opportunities to take literally thousands of pics. I take heaps of pictures when I go exploring anywhere, even the parks here in town. If you want to take a peak you are more than welcome to look at some online. There a couple folders of the great places I go walking every day along with other cool places.

I have some here : Picasa Web Albums - Sirant
and since the earthquake here in December I have had trouble putting new pics online on picasa web, so I put some links to my Thailand pics and movies on my own website www.ukulele123.com

Thanks Everyone!

Coming here and seeing all your pictures and hearing your stories makes this whole painful and difficult journey that much easier. I wish you were all here so I could thank you in person. I hope everyone here knows how important not only their own weight loss and health is, but how sharing with others like you do is nothing short of heroic.

Thank you all so much!
