Tasty Oats

I was making breakfast this morning, and came up with a pretty tasty way to make my oats.

-Put 3/4 cup plain oats and ~1 cup water (or milk) in a bowl. Microwave on high for 1:30 or until it's really hot
-Thoroughly mix in 1 scoop of vanilla whey protein powder
-Thoroughly mix in 1.5 Tbsp of Smuckers Sugar Free Preserves (I used Red Raspberry)

Honestly, it kind of tasted like a jelly-filled eclair or something. Yummy.

Just had it, it actually was very good, thanks for the recipe!

protein powder in my oatmeal has always just been nasty to me.

i'm more apt to put peanut butter in my oatmeal for the good fats, adn since fat enhances flavor.
oh and splenda with a dash of cinnamon

hey malklore, I had read recently that the oatmeal/peanut butter combo was a pretty good way to fat storage admist the carb/fat=stores fat argument. I for one love peanut butter in my oatmeal, infact its save to say it was my fav meal of the day and haven't seen any evidence at least in myself that is hindering as I have had weeks where I didn't eat it and my results were more or less the same. I was curious as to your thoughts on that though.

I like my oatmeal uncooked and mixed in Strawberry yogurt. Personally once oatmeal gets cooked the texture makes me want to gag.
Uncooked mixed with peanut butter and protein powder is of course the way to make a good protein bar too..

I dunno - maybe I'm different but I've always enjoyed the taste of just plain oats... not that I'd not try something different, but plain is just fine by me.

its about the only time I put fat with carbs, and oatmeal is both low GI and low Insulin index, so I just don't sweat it.

once i'm leaner again, I'll drop the PB and see if it makes any difference.

and so everyone's clear, taht's not my post workout meal...PWO meal should contain negligible amount of fat.
