Swimming causing increased appetite

I was unsure if this was a exercise or nutrition based question so I just decided to post in On Topic. I eat 5x daily with 3 smaller meals and 2 larger snacks. I have recently had to change my exercise routine from a lot of walking/running to swimming. In terms of energy expenditure from exercise I believe I am actually using LESS energy daily however my appetite has shot through the roof. I am finding myself hungry 2 hours after eating a meal a day after swimming.

Does anyone have any experience or information on this topic? The only thing I can think of is that I have a higher intensity workout over a smaller time period.

I honestly have no concrete answer for you, but I know swimmers eat more. I'm not entirely sure as to why. So I'd say it's normal, but I can't really give an answer. Sorry!

The change in body temperature causes your appetite to increase.

No, you are not necerssarily burning more calories, its just what happens when you swim.

Try taking a hot shower afterwards, that might help.
