sustaining my diet

Hi everyone! Im jc, a 23 year old male student from Manila. This site is really great and it will be a great help in keeping tract of our goals.btw, i am not fat as a child but then i tend to eat a lot until i reached 230lbs last January. I really eat a lot and i also eat often. I've been on and off my diet as well as going to the gym, i was able to lose 15 lbs last year but when the school starts again, i tend to gain it back again or gain more. Last June, I realized that I have to do something about it that I miss a lot of things because of my weight and i really want to look good, that time i weigh 215lbs, i started dieting and started some exercise and now i weigh 180lbs (lost 35lbs). but still not ideal for my height which is 5'6. Some say that i lose weight laready, my clothes are alot bigger but i still overweight. My target weight will be 155lbs. but i don't know how to sustain it because i tend to fall over and binge eat at times.

My plan now is to lose 2-3 lbs per week for 12 months, which is conservative i guess, by reducing my calories to 1500 to 1800 per day, i cut off rice and sodas (or anything colored that is.. water only), i plan to enrol in a gym nearby( but the problem is i easily get bored in a solitary activity).

I really need motivation now in continuing to lose weight. This forum will really help us in achieving our optimal weight and getting into a healthy living.

Good luck with your plan! Hope we can help with motivating you. Don't worry too much though if you don't drop 2-3 lbs every week, it can be a hard task. Guess just focus on keeping healthy! Good luck again :)

thanks lozza!! i read your post hope we can lose even more weight, its really a struggle to do dieting as well as do exercise but the rewards of good and healthy body are those that motivate me...^^

to add up to my diary, il answer the questions posted on the sticky thread..

1. What is your current height and weight? 5'6, 180lbs
2. If you were at an ideal weight now, what would that weight be? roughly 155lbs
3. At what weight would you like to be at four months from now? 155lbs or less
4. Why do you want to lose weight?to build my confidence and t ocatch up on those things that i miss due to my weight, like sports among others, and also for health benefits
5. Do you want to lose weight for a specific life event such as wedding or reunion? If so, when is that event? none in particular
6. What obstacles could get between you and your weight loss goals? appetite, binge eating and laziness in exercise, also i tend to get busy when school starts
7. Why do you think that you now have a weight problem?i am not watchful before of what i eat, i just consider being overweight as normal, before i dont see my self as an overweight but then realize im not overweight htat time but already obese
8. What lifestyle changes do you think would help you lose weight?cut of empty calories, EXERCISE!
9. Have you lost weight in the past? If so, what has worked in the past to help you lose weight?i lost 20 lbs last year but was not able to maintain it but actually gained more, i starve myself ending up me to eat a lot in the end
10. Why do you believe that you did not lose weight or you gained the weight back? loss of motivation

Why do you think it did not work? the diet was not constructed well, i learned that for those who want to diet they should maintain at least 1200kcal to prevent their body to set into starvation conservation mode
12. Would you try writing down all food and drink consumed for a given period of time?i dont think so, but i keep it to a point to look at the labels
13. Do you cook at home often? If so, what do you cook? i dont cook my food
14. How often do you go out to eat? Where do you go? seldom
15. What are your three favorite foods? spaghetti, japanese and chinese, all those that are spicy

17. What are three things you can do differently when it comes to food? i can stay up long

19. Do you eat when you are not hungry? yep but im trying not to, it becomes a habit before

21. Do you hide your food or eat in secret? yes at times also

24. Do you eat while watching TV or using the computer? with TV yes
25. What do you normally eat for a meal? before rice and a viand, now i try to eat lean mean minus the rice
26. What type of snacks do you eat? chips or banana
27. In terms of exercise, what, if anything, are you currently doing? im still trying to get into running
28. Where do you go for exercise? A local public gym? School/work gym? Home? none as of now
29. What, if anything, are your three favorite types of exercise? cycling and bench press
30. What is your daily/weekly/monthly/yearly motivation to move towards your goals? other people noticing my weight loss
