Susie's Fitness Journal

i bet u must be seeing differnec in your abs now....i can see my abs more defined after one week on slim in 6...

Well I've done 6 days of Slim in 6 (2 days Start It Up, 4 days Ramp it Up)-- and you are RIGHT Sadie I totally see a difference in my abs. I lost a freakin' INCH around my waist. That's nuts. I put on a tight shirt and I can't believe how my midsection looks smaller-- it hasn't looked this good in years. And I'm only on the first week!

I still can't get through all of the ab exercises, the leg lifts, or the pushups, but like Sheri says it's good to have it as a something to work towards.

I guess I shouldn't be shocked-- before this I wasn't really doing any ab exercises or cardio so doing an intense workout every day is bound to produce some results. But still, I AM shocked!!!

Keep up the good work.

You're doing strength and cardio in addition? Or does the video incorporate one or both...

Hey Stingo,

I decided to strictly follow the video and not do any additional exercise-- the video does both, sort of.

It definitely does cardio, and it does strength moves, but it's the low weight, high repetition deal-- and actually the lower body moves only use body weight. For arms and back you use either resistance bands or light dumbbells, and there are standing and floor ab exercises.

I had been using weights before for lower body, but I'm not using them with this video since I think it's too many reps to do with weights, PLUS you work the same body parts every day with this program (you don't work your muscles to failure) so again I think it makes sense to lay off added weights.

I've been doing it for a week and haven't noticed any muscle loss, on the contrary, so...I'm going to stick with it just to see what kind of results I get. At the end of the six weeks I plan to go back to a traditional routine of cardio and strength training with weights. But so far I'm happy with the results of these vids.

Sheri: Thanks! Hopefully I will...

Well it's always good to change up your routine now and again - hits your body at different angles which can only be a good thing...

Oh my dog I bought a pair of those new "skinny" jeans today...I think they look realllly good, thanks to my working out. Talk about motivation to keep it up. Of course now I need to get a pair of metallic flats to go with them, and a new shirt...a new bag would be nice...:p

I'm one of those people who normally hates shopping but something about this fall's fashions really has got me wanting to trash everything I own and get all new. If only!

I am planning to get my hair cut tomorrow though.

Oops almost forgot to post about exercise:
I did Ramp It Up again today but didn't get through all of the ab exercises. Tomorrow I'm going to force myself to push through it. I was able to do almost all of the leg lifts because I alternated legs today. I watched the Burn It Up video again today and it looks REALLY challenging. I'm scared! I only have about three more Ramp It Ups until I go into Burn It Up. :(

You go girl...can't forget all the accessories.

Did the workout again...it seems to be getting easier. And I've been able to do more pushups!

The other positive thing going on is that my inner thighs have totally firmed up. Must be all those plie squats!

Not so good is that my upper back hurts...maybe I'm doing some of the ab floorwork wrong, not sure. :(

woohoo,i am glad that u are getting great results:)
see i wasnt bragging about si6 from the very beggining for nothing:D
i hope my mum buys me DVD player soon so i can do my workouts again:(

Sadie, you were right! It really is challenging and gets results.

Ramp It Up is getting almost easy for me now, only one more day of it, then a one-day break, and then it's on to Burn It Up, which I'm really intimidated by...if it's too hard I'm worried I might be tempted to quit...but I really, really want to keep with it. We'll see...

I was able to do two sets of 10 pushups today (we're talking girlie pushups of course)-- a personal record. Maybe I'll try to get in one or two full (non-knees) pushups during that part of the routine.

Thanks, Sheri!

I did Ramp It Up five out of seven days, which while it isn't the recommended 6 days, I think it's pretty darn good. I really feel like I needed the extra rest day.

Tomorrow I start Burn It Up. I've been slacking off on keeping track of my food intake, I really have to get on top of that again. I'm so horrible with planning meals!!!

Make that your next goal. The more you make your goals, the better you will feel.

Hows burn it up going?

Today was my first day with Burn It Up (I wimped out and did RIU yesterday).

I had to take a break in between the squat and lunge sections, and I only did half of the "fast" lifts in the leg-lift section. When she said, "Now 8 more" I was like, "yeah right!" Well since I have four weeks to do this one I can build up to it eventually, right?

This one really got my heart pounding. But I think this series is good because just when you get to that point doing cardio where you're thinking, "I don't know how much more I can take" she switches to something less intensive.

I also really appreciated the timer during the lunge part, it helps to know that it's only four minutes!

I liked the plie side-bend exercises.

I kept up with the video about 85% of the time...maybe one day I'll do the whole thing? Dare to dream!

Do I have to say it..LOL. Make that your next goal. I'm beginning to sound like a broken record, but you set your mind to it, you can do it.

Hey Sheri, lol. Yeah, it already IS my goal. Well really the main goal is to just keep doing this consistently for the next four weeks. I think that being able to keep up with the vid should happen naturally...I hope! :)

I'm sore today from those side-bends! That's a good thing.

The next three days, plus Monday and Tuesday, are going to be unusually busy for me work-wise so I hope I don't get off track!

Not the best of weeks exercise-wise-- I skipped a few days of exercising, but I got back to it today! That Burn It Up is tough. I need to readjust my attitude though, seeing it as something unpleasant to do makes it too easy to put off.

My eating wasn't the best this week either. Icecream with whipped cream, too much buttered toast, one day at McD's, a bag (though small) of chips (can you guess which time-of-the-month I'm approaching?). I made hummus too but it's the kind that has plenty of tahini and olive oil and I'm sure plenty of fat cals. Ohhhh well.

Usually I don't gain weight easily but I do just want to eat healthier in general and as far as that goes this week was a bust.

I usually eat oatmeal for breakfast every morning but this week my body decided to rebel. Thank god they don't serve Egg McMuffins at the McD's here, and there are no diners where I could get a big pancake breakfast. You know I did lose about five pounds since I've moved to this country and I'll bet it may just be because they don't do breakfast here like in the USA. I LOVE traditional American breakfast food, eggs, bacon etc. Sigh.

Ha! Not so much starvation as deprivation of my favorite fattening breakfast foods (I ate other things, so no starving). :)

I got up to TWELVE pushups last night.
