Super Size Me

I've never seen this movie (although I've always wanted to...maybe I'll put it on my Netflix Queue).

But, I recently heard about this woman who had been carrying around a 4 year old cheeseburger and fries from McDonalds to demonstrate how that stuff doesn't break down (b/c it has remained in near-new condition this whole time). She carries around a 3 month old potato to show the difference in how "real food" does break down.

I think that her claims that this experiment "proves" that fast food doesn't break down in the body and thus is an extra-bad source of calories sounds kinda over-the-top and unsubstantiated.

However, the whole experiment does produce a serious gross-out effect ("um...ewwww") on me.

Check it out for yourself:

Fast food has never appealed to me....and I'm pretty thankful for that.

Oh Please... That lady is a fatso! What does she mean she used to eat fast food all the time "when" she was overweight? how funny

Every time I watch the movie it makes me hungry for McDonalds and I go. My roommate watched it with me once and he said the same thing. We went to McDonalds afterwords, lol. The only time I eat McDonalds is A) breakfast before a road trip B) breakfast at the airport C) after watching this movie D) when I'm drunk.

Same here! I really wanted some fries after I saw the movie :drool5:

Now that I'm dieting, I still eat fast food. Even McDonalds. BUT, you see, I used to get:

3 Piece Chicken Select: 380
Large Fries: 500
Total: 880

Now I get:

4 Piece Chicken McNuggets: 190
Small Fries: 230
Total: 430 (and only $2!)

I eat the fries slowly, and one at a time. Same with the McNuggets. And I don't miss my larger order at all!

The movie had the opposite effect on me; I rarely ate at McDonald's before, but I can count on one hand the number of times I've done so in the last 6-7 years.

briefly...

For a short while after I saw the movie I avoided fast food... But c'mon... Even when they have the french fries in the glass container for weeks to show they don't break down - I still just want to punch them in the throat for wasting perfectly good fries!

I'm a french fry addict. A food addict, a huge portion addict.... An anything that tastes good addict. I don't know how to eat fast food with self control, so I am totally off the stuff for now... But just thinking about the movie has me craving!!
