Stretching in btwn sets

Having recently got quite into Isometric stretching it occurred to me that surely the best time to stretch a muscle would be immediately after training it bcos thats when it would be most relaxed surely?

I have been told that stretching after lifting is bad bcos it can pull the muscular tears further apart but I dont train for hypertrophy so surely it would be fine for me to do a static stretch straight away (ie. a hams stretch after a deadlift)

What do you guys think?

I stretch during workouts, and lightly stretch afterwards, and the next day.

Any time you stretch too far, you risk injury. Thus I always stretch in a slow, steady, controlled manner.

I only stretch the muscles that are synergistically dominate prior to exercise. (To release those muscles to help better contraction of the opposing muscles) And then hit them again plus any other muscles that are lacking full ROM at the end. (To improve flexibility)

And then if it was one of those workouts which I know I will be fairly sore, I will stretch right before going to bed... sometimes even right in bed :p (This is because your body does most of its tissue healing at night, and if you lengthen tight muscles before bed, they will heal in a lengthened state.)

I suggest stretching the exercised muscles after the workout, while the muscles are warm, to help alleviate stiffness.

To increase flexibilty, I recommend a separate flexibilty program, that can be done at home, rather than directly related to the time of a workout.
