Starting over! And blogging this time.

On March 23rd I wrote:

"3. At what weight would you like to be at four months from now? Under 205 pounds"
"7. Why do you think that you now have a weight problem? Because my bmi is over 40. I feel so unhealthy at this weight, it just feels like my body is a giant blob."
"29. What, if anything, are your three favorite types of exercise? Dance dance revolution, walking, elliptical "

I am at 190 pounds :)
My BMI is 32.60
My favorite exercises are now Zumba, Weight lifting, and I'm starting to jog.

Today I had my measurements retaken after joining the gym 3 weeks ago. I think it COULD be better but I'm glad with the results. I lost over an inch from each bicep! I lost over an inch on my hips, and I lost some on my right leg and my left leg gained an inch.

I wish i lost some on my waist, but I'm super happy about my biceps!!
I've also lost 9 pounds since starting there too.

I only have 34 pounds left to reach my goal, I may do it by the new year! I can't believe it :D

Oh man, my calfs are SOOOORE. But I love it! I like the feeling of soreness :x

I took another zumba class by myself and I had a lot of fun, it was a different instructor, a little easier on my leg. But its why my calfs are so sore haha!

Alan and I are going to be renting out some rooms in our house to strangers, for some extra income. Honestly, we need it. The after school programs alan did for his school were cut from the budget, which means he is making about 8k less a year, that on top of my breaking my leg and being out of work for so long, plus the dog getting very sick... just not a good time financially.. So thats whats going on lately, sorry to keep it short but I have to go clear some rooms out now for the people that are moving in.

Wow, I take a break from the forums for a bit and when I get back I see that you've been just flying along! Congrats on the big losses!!! Just a few weeks ago you were struggling with getting under 200 and now you are pushing into the 180's, that's so great!

Sorry you are having such a hard time financially, I know the feeling. We are struggling now too. But you aren't letting that get in the way of your goals and that's great!

I'm so sorry to hear about your financial problems. I know there is a lot of that going around right now, but things are getting better. Hang in there, hon. *hugs*

I know what you mean about being sore and liking it! Before I used to HATE the pain after an intense workout but now I LOVE it, because it means my body is getting smaller, tighter, and stronger! In my old life (before my healthy lifestyle change) I would do anything to keep from experienceing pain and I hated exercising. Now I really enjoy working out! Physical movement is like a drug to me now. If I have to sit still too long I find myself fidgeting and moving around in my seat - anything to get the body moving. lol I had no idea when I started this journey that it would feel so good and that I'd enjoy working out and movement so much. I even enjoy veggies! Who knew!? This really is blowing my mind! heheh

You're doing awesome! You inspire me so much! Keep up the great work, sweetie!

Sorry to hear that things are a bit tough money-wise Heather. Sounds like you've both made some sound decisions about how to be practical...and who knows, the lodgers might turn out to be GREAT future friends and fun to live with...there's always an upside :D

Being sore is the reward after a hard work out - sounds funny eh?!? But after a run, its kind of how I know that I've pushed myself and done well - not so sore that I am in PAIN but sore as in "nicely worked out". I no longer get pulled muscles that hurt for days now - just tight, fatigued muscles. Jogging/running is THE BEST thing I ever did when I started this journey - I now can't imagine my life without running regularly. It has become that important to me mentally as well as physically.

+3 pounds in a week?! Whatt???!! Hopefully it's due to muscle gain but I don't think I can gain that much muscle in a week. Another hopeful thought is it could be water weight because i've totally been slacking on my water intake.

Yeah, you're right, it could totally be water weight. I've had that issue. A few weeks ago I even gained TWO POUNDS over night, then two days later I not only dropped those 2 pounds but an additional 2 pounds over a 2 or 3 day period. That's totally the "whoosh" effect. Some weight loss experts believe that when your fat cells get emptied they fill with water for a few days and then all the sudden and seemingly over night those cells get emptied out when you have adequate water intake.

I haven't lost any weight in about 2 weeks. I don't know whats going on. It almost feels like I've lost motivation. Ugh how do I push myself back into my routine? Things have been so busy and hectic lately I haven't had much time for the gym. Guess I should cut back my calories by a few hundred until I can get back in the gym.

I'm sorry to hear you're having a little trouble right now. Just don't give up! You've come WAY too far to let yourself get derailed by a couple of weeks of a plateau.

Yeah, you might want to drop the calories a little bit until you are able to get back into exercising. :)

Keep going Heather - I bet its just a temporary blip and the important thing is to keep on the straight and narrow. I agree with Stacy - you've come so far now and it would be a real shame to get demotivated just because you sat at the same weight for a couple of weeks.

I'm still at the same weight, the same weight I've been at for 2 weeks. And I'm GLAD because I kinda ate bad for a few days this week. I'm happy I didn't gain anymore weight. With that being said, I think I have my motivation back! So I took a week break, and currently here is where I stand...

weight: 193

Mini-goal : 185 by Sept 1st.

I took my 3rd zumba class today :D I think I'm getting a better hang of it. I love the instructor. He is so perky and cute. Also, want to hear something awesome?! My weight is almost under 190 again!! 2 1/2 weeks ago I weighed in at 189.8 then gained like 4 pounds for some reason. Now its going back down again! I'm back to tracking my food again too, I think that was a big reason why I stalled. Life has been so busy lately and I wasn't able to get to the gym much but I think I'm just gonna go regardless of being tired or not, I can't let myself down. I feel so good right now that i'm back on track!

Ohhh! I'm so jealous! I want to try zumba but can't afford the classes right now. I think maybe I'll see if I can find some beginner lessons on YouTube or something and just do it at home. :)

YAY!! You are back in action! You're probably right about the stall being related to not journaling your food. I know those extra calories can really creep in.

You know what I have found - usually when I feel too tired to work out and make myself anyway - I always feel so much better afterword! And oddly, I usually have more energy after working out than before I started! lol I don't know if that's the same for everyone, but I sure hope so! It's such an amazing feeling. The feeling of accomplishment knowing your muscles are aching because you are getting stronger and healthier along with the little endorphin high from the workout - pure pleasure! :D

Keep up the awesome work, hun! I can't tell you how happy it makes me knowing you're pushing on! You've over come the "blahs" of the stall and are back to becoming a healthier you!

Hey hey!
Thanks for all of the kind words stacey! I get that same sense of accomplishment when I push myself to workout despite how I feel. It helps me stay in a happy mood for the rest of the day too!

By the way guys, I finally hit my 50 pound mark today! I also finally got back under 190 today! 188.1!!!!! I want to be 185 by sept 1st. I know it's a small goal but I've decided for now, small goals are better since I have slowed down in the weight loss department. I've been doing weights a lot so I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it.

Anyway, going to the gym today! Looking forward to sweating my ass off :D

I have been really busy lately so I haven't been here much, hopefully I can catch up with everyone soon!

Wow!! Congratulations on hitting the 50 lbs down milestone! And that's awesome that you're below 190! Wonderful work! :hurray::hurray::hurray:

You're probably right about the weights having something to do with the weight loss slowing down. Muscle weighs the same as fat, so ...yeah. lol

Congrats again! You're such an inspiration!

Just a quick update;

My weight was yo-yoing for awhile. But I can finally say it's going down again. I weighed in at 184.3 yesterday! 28 pounds to go till I reach my goal. I am starting to swim laps once a week, I might go two times every other week. Not sure yet.

I made a mini-goal to lose 10-15 pounds before halloween and so far I've lost 8 (i crept up to 192.9 during the first week of september! bleh!) I might actually lose more then the 15. we'll see! Hope everyones doing well! Sorry I'm not here much anymore, been very busy with my job, school, and now babysitting my nephews.

Well it's been awhile since I updated. I'm probably just going to do an update once or twice a month for now on. I still read everyones journals though. Anyway these past few months have sucked as far as the number on the scale goes, but I think my body is still changing. I think I've built up a bit of muscle.

I weighed in at 186.something for the end of the year challenge on August 31st but my weight kept yo-yoing even after that. Finally I'm losing... kind of. I was 183, then my birthday happened, then I shot up to 188! Now i'm 183 again. My goal is to be 175 by halloween. I like these smaller goals to be honest. I still have 5 months and 3 weeks to reach my goal of 80 pounds in a year. I only have 27ish pounds to lose so I am optimistic. It's just slowed down a big amount. I guess it can be expected with a bum thyroid. If I keep averaging 5 pounds a month I'll be happy with that.

Also, alan and I have begun swimming laps 1-2 times a week. I try to swim a mile when we go. 64 laps, ugh! I love swimming though, and i think adding this to my routine is awesome.

Swimming is great exercise. It's low impact, yet works every muscle group in your body. I think you'll see a big difference.
