Hi there,
Some four years ago I started a diary on here, I ended up losing like 25 pounds, but like most other times I had tried to lose weight, after a bit came off I just went off track and back to my old ways, and ended up gaining everything back.
This time I'm determined to lose ALL the excess weight, I'm currently at 238.6 lbs as of Sunday, yesterday. My goal is to get to at least 190, preferably 180, heck I'd be estatic once I make it under 200, at 199. I'd never been under 200 lbs in my adult life. I'm 5' 11" by the way.
This time it's different and more serious because I just got back from a bout with testicular cancer. My left testicle was 90% tumor by the time they removed it. The doctors said this type of cancer usually spreads into the abdomen, the lungs, and sometimes even the brain, BUT I got so lucky, the cat-scan revealed no spreading what so ever. Now at 2 months after surgery all my blood levels that were abnormal have returned to normal and I'll just need to keep getting blood tests for a while to make sure everything keeps going fine as it has been.
This was a major wake-up call for me. It showed me that these serious things can happen at anytime and without warning, they don't discriminate. Here I was at 28 years old thinking I was super healthy and I'd never get any bad illnesses, well we're all the same, and things can come at any time.
So I've decided to live to my highest potential, to live up to my highest vision of myself, and my highest vision of myself does not include being chubby. If I'm going to live with a deeper appreciation of life after what happened, I want to live it like it matters and doing what I feel is best and right for me, and that includes getting into shape.
At my highest a couple years ago I was 272, so at 238 I've made some progress, but for 4 years that is very mediocre progress, I just hadn't stepped up to the plate and done what I had to do, which is work hard.
I'm currently employing a vegan diet, I've been convinced to go that way by some literature and videos I've seen, and also since I seem to have developed some sort of meat allergy, vegan is the only way I see myself going.
So I'll be checking in often to update my progress, which I know I will make, so here goes.
