Starting a Fit Life Hopefully, Tips Needed

Hi All, Well im new to this forum as at last ive decided after a short holiday that i ant to try and become healthier and fitter. Up to now i havent really done that much to keep my self fit so am sort of starting from scratch. The things i have aimed for are to loose my fatty stomach which isnt amssive but is there and try to toan my body a bit, i also wanted to try to get some muscle on my arms and legs, these are my rough aims. For my legs i cycle or did so will start this again a few times a week. A friend of mine for my arms suggested home boxing, just to get some gloves and a bag and use it regulary as a workout to increase muscle in my arms and to loose weight too, this seemed an enjoyable way to me. The final thing is loosing weight, im going to try to alter my diet to become better and healthier if i can, so id appreciate any hints and tips on this that anyone can give me and anything extra i should do or change as this is all new to me now. I must also include that i am 18 so this may alter the things i do etc.

Many Thanks for the help in advance

Chris

Hi

Pick up a bodybuilding book and follow it strictly. Its simple and easy. And you get serious results. THE WEIDER APPROACH. By Joe Weider.

hi

Its the best advice you'll ever get. Or get his updated book which i was looking to buy. JOE WEIDER SYSTEM. Haven't even looked at it yet but im sure its got the goods like the last one.

Books don't help you lose weight unless you're using them in place of dumbbells. Information does. And you can obtain all the info you need for free by googling or asking questions.

- "loose my fatty stomach"
Cardio. Only way to burn fat is through cardio so get back on that bike and keep at it. Any other form like running, sports(general), swimming, skating, etc.

- "some muscle on my arms and legs"
Weight training. Boxing by itself won't really gain you muscle. Thats why boxers train. Resistance training causes muscle to breakdown and develop. Best and cheapest way to start and end is buying a pair of dumbbells. Curls, Lats, Presses, Flyes, Squats, Lunges, Calve raises, (and more) work every muscle in your body. Good bench would also help (I unfortunately don't have one at home yet).

As for diet. Keep sodium(salt) and sugar in check. Saturated fat should be really low. Total fat should be around your Daily requirement found on food labels. Carbs are ok, but they're usually one fast way to stack calories up. You should try to eat about as much protein in your daily diet as carbs. Protein is what you need and whats difficult for most people to get enough of with their regular diet.
