Staring a diary

I am interested in starting a weight loss diary but whenever i start these kind of things i seem to lack the motivation to stick to it. Will doing this actually help me? Does anyone have success stories to share? Any incouragement (and advice on how to get started) would be so helpful. Thanks all. :)

you already took the first step and started.

I try to write down what I eat and exercise and I try to write it in this diary on a daily basis...it doesn't always work but I try anyway. This is a good way to monitor, what you are eating and also, when you post and other people respond, you can set it up, so you will receive an e-mail, which makes you come back and while you're here, you can read what others posted and respond to them. That's how the whole forum works and that is how it keeps you motivated. Others are checking up on you and post in your diary...

Just try it....you can't lose anything, but weight:D
 
Good for you to realize that you need motivation..you are in the right place. Just when im feeling down i come here and see what everyone is doing and realize i am SOOOO not alone. I have been doing a diary for a little while now & counting my cal...it sucks but its eye opening and good for nailing down what you can do different!

Hey there Amanda... i also tend to have problems staying motivated and sticking with things. This diary is perhaps the only reason that I'm still on my diet after four months!!! And it's exactly for the reasons that the others have said above. It makes such a difference when you get the encouragement from others. Just signing on once a day and knowing that other people are going through this and that they have left you this great little note makes my day and makes me want to try harder.

It also really helps to post online, even on your bad days, because that way we can encourage one another and point out things that could be healthier, etc. For example, I didn't realize that grapes were so high in sugar and weren't that great to have for a snack - but reading someone's diary, I found out that information, and so now i'll try to have them less often and eat a snack with more fiber instead.

Welcome, Amanda. I've been using this forum for over 4 months and am closing in on my initial goal of a 30 pound loss. (Waa-too-ie!) One of the biggest contributers to my success has been the encouragement and inspiration I've found here! Read some, post some! It really does work!
Amomono, what do you mean grapes are not a good snack!!! I just ate half a cup of them with my lunch. I guess you learn something new everyday...

amanda weclome. i didn't want to start a diary a first cause it will hold you accountable for what you do, but i found by doing it you know what you have to change and praise yourself on the things you have accomplished. good luck and keep journaling.
