Stan's Diary

*makes a mental note of oatcake* I never heard of that.

Anyway, Hi Stan!! I too have been meaning to come by your diary, I've seen you around. I'm CFL. :) It looks like you're doing well and fighting the fight!! :D

Sorry you're feelings sick. Ugh, I'm just sort of getting over something myself. Just make sure you rest and drink plenty of liquids if you can.

Hope you feel better soon, have a great weekend!!

*makes a mental note of oatcake* I never heard of that.

I was curious too.. found a recipe...

North Staffordshire Oatcakes
North Staffordshire oatcakes are a local delicacy in the North Staffordshire (Stoke-on-Trent) area of England, and so may be known to non-locals as a North Staffordshire oatcake or Potteries oatcake. These use flour and yeast, whereas other oatcakes do not. When pre-cooked, they are a form of fast food, and catering outlets in the area usually offer oatcakes with fillings such as cheese, bacon, sausage and egg. They can be re-heated by frying in butter, or by grilling. In addition, pikelets are often served alongside oatcakes in a similar fashion.

Ingredients
8oz fine oatmeal
8oz wholewheat or plain flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/2oz fresh yeast
1 1/2 pints warm milk and water, mixed half and half
1 teaspoon sugar

Procedure
Add the salt to the flour and oatmeal.
Dissolve the yeast with a little warm liquid and add the sugar. Allow the mixture to become frothy.
Mix the dry ingredients with the yeast liquid to make a batter.
Cover the batter with a clean cloth and leave it in a warm place for an hour.
Bake the oatcake on a well-greased griddle. Put enough batter onto the griddle to produce an oatcake about 8-9 inches in diameter. The surface will be covered in holes as it cooks.
Turn the oatcake after 2 - 3 minutes when the upper side appears dry and the underneath is golden brown, and cook for another 2 - 3 minutes.

Woohoo! Thanks for the support peeps :D

Careful on those oatcakes though guys, they pack a powerful calorie kick - especially with the junk those Stokies eat them with! lol. Once I reach my goal though I might have them more often as they're really low in fat and really fill you up!

Peq, your fave Brit is waiting for the rain to stop to he can go out for his walk. It was supposed to stop an hour ago. Darned weathermen can't get anything right! lol :D

Ohhh, that said, the drip dripping has ceased - I might be off in a sec!

Stupid rain tricked me!

It had stopped, but then it started again when I was out. Still, it meant the walk was nice and quiet 'cos all the sensible people had stayed in to keep dry! :D

Hey Stan. Just wanted to swing by and thank you for visiting my diary. Looks like your doing great yourself. Keep up the good work!!

I can't wait until Spring...I can walk in the rain, but walking on snow bugs me to no end.

Have a good day Stan! (or is your day over already? I get so confused:D )

Hey Stan sorry your not feel all that great...it sucks I get so upset when I cant exercise, LOL...anyway take care of yourself!!!

Ooo I love walking in the rain!! Especially when its warm out... makes me want to take off all my clothes..lol. ;)

Have a great night!! :D:D:D

ergh, i dont like rain (unless its night time and your inside), snow i love, but rain! noo, my fringe gets in my eye, and drips down my face, and its just a generally unpleashant experiance lol. Snow is better, but it hardly ever snows .

I love to walk in the rain, there's something really sensual - maybe even spiritually cleansing about it. I don't like it, however, when I've dressed for dry weather! lol :D

I've had the munchies today but managed to contain the cals a bit still...

Breakfast - weetabix 210
Post walk munchies - tuna salad 150
lunch - cucumber sandwich 216
snack #1 - mullerice yoghurt thingy 108
snack #2 - 2 pickled eggs 150
snack #3 - carrots 38
snack #4 - 5 sticks of small celery 10
tea - tomato on toast 256
treat to cheer me up from feeling ill - sausy roll 245
evening snack - apple 75

total cals of 1458 which isn't bad considering all the snacks I had! lol

I did my 3.8 mile weekend walk in (as mentioned above) the rain. I felt good after I finished it so maybe next weekend (weather permitting) I can go a bit further.

I'm off to bed now 'cos I feel poorly still and want to get plenty of sleep ready for the morning's walk. It's forecast to rain again for about an hour or so - If I get up at 7 I should be back before it starts :)

Thanks for the pom pom shake again OHD, makes me feel miles better ;)

Thanks for dropping in everyone, your support means the world to me
