Squats Vs Lever Lunge

i like squats way better they involve more muscles as stablizers etc. more challenging esp the lower you go. i suppose these would be less to your spine but if you increase at a proper rate and watch your form i don't think there is anything wrong with squats.

No, your just compressing your spine, When you squat you are working your spine erectors, making them stronger. The stronger your back muscles are the less back problems you'll have later in life.
 
In the words of the infamous Louie Simmons, "Most exercises that are totally safe are also totally useless!"

Squat and deadlift, i know people who have squatted and deadlifted for 20+ years.

Most people will have injuries from benching before the latter(s).
