sports drinks

I like the taste of gatorade and I drink it as a regular beverage throughout the day whether I"m working out or not. I lift weights 2 or 3 times a week. Is it bad to drink sports drinks when not working out? Does this lead to fat gain from the extra sugar intake?

Also which sports drinks are the most effective, gatorade, powerade, something else, or should I just drink water??
 
Hey. Well, as far as I know, Gatorade sn't bad. At least when compared to Coke and pepsi. ;)
However, I am going through a juice drinking stage myself...but according to what i've heard, Water is the best substance. Hyrdration is an important part wen working out. But, when working out you'll get shaky and run out of energy really quickly if you just drink water. Your gonna need some source of energy. Which reccomendations might include protien shakes or power bars..something of that substance. Personally, I'm new at this at well, and still learning. I'm just joining in on the convo. :)
