specific area in the bakc question

ive been REALLY working hard on my back, doing pull ups, chin ups, bent rows, seated rows. But ive avoided dead lifts because idk i heard somewhere they stunt your growth or somthing, but im going to start doing them anyway. The area im trying to hit is the area between the bottom of your shoulder blades, also the all the muscles below that. Any suggestions?

PS what shoulder exercise works the top most part of your shoulder, im thinkin military press or flys?

Deadlifts works pretty much the entire body. You're thinking about the lower back? if so, deadlift is a winner. deadlifts and all its variations, RDL's for example (romanian deadlifts)

a standard deadlift is sufficiant though correct? should the variations be used later when one builds his/her deadlift to a point to where they are pleased first?

Yeah, it's always a good idea to get the basic movements down first before you start working with variations. That provides you with a good base with form and how the movement should feel.

the variationes can be used at any time. If a standard deadlift is enough depends a bit on you. is you're lowerback strong or weak compared to the rest? personally, i think romanian deadlifts work the lowerback a bit more. this also works the hamstrings more and the quads less, making them good to pair with squats. (just dont go and do superheavy squats and romanians one the same day often in the week) but like tony said. this might be something you will do once you are a bit experienced.
