Sona Can Reach For The Sky!

Wow, I didn't even see these last posts
Hi Kim and Paul, thanks for stopping by.

Well I lost another pound and a half this week
So I'm down 5.5 pounds overall.

sona

Woohoo. Way to go Sona! You got the ball rolling now. Keep it up!

Hi Kim, you are so sweet keepin up with me!

I can tell you what seems to work for me is weight training.
I'm doing some cardio everyday, riding a stationary bike
I can't wait till it cools off enough to walk outside.
But I really believe in lifting free weights.
I've seen the biggest changes in my body over the years
from weight training.

I've seen people lose weight in the gym lots of times,
but I've noticed that the folks that try to take it off with only diet
or only cardio seem to put the weight back on.
Plus they do get smaller but it seems like a smaller version of shapeless.
I'm not sure I'm expressing myself well here.
But the folks I've seen take it off and keep it off all lift free weights.
You need that muscle mass to maintain the weight loss.

So that's what I'm tryin to get back into.
I took a year off bein sick and all.
But I'm trying to push the heavy metal up in the air :eek2:
And ugh it's heavy!
My routine is still kinda pitiful,
but I'm making some improvements.

I also cut 1000 cals a day off of my daily intake.
I ate normally (read unfettered here) for 7 days
then averaged it up and cut 1000 off of that.
AT LEAST MOST DAYS!
I'm still very bad sometimes.
So far so good!

Hi David, How are you?
I'm always so happy to hear from you!

Howdy Paul
Guess what! We got rain!
Rain in Athens....wow
How's things in your part of GA?
good to see you!

I agree Sona, You have to incorporate weights in your program if you want to lose and get that nice curvy figure! I hate doing weights, but I force myself just the same. I love riding the stationary bike at the gym, and a year ago, I huffed and puffed to ride 5 miles in 30 minutes, now I'm not even out of breath and I can go about 8 miles in 30 minutes and get a good workout. I love riding the bike. I'm an outdoors person also, so when it's hot here I hate it! but, it's coming close to fall weather, so I'll be happy when it changes up a bit. Well, I think your on the right track, and I have no doubt you'll do really well in the up and coming months. I hope your day today is a good one!!

Hi Kim,

Yeah well if I could just get a handle on the binge eating!
You know, eating for reasons other than hunger!!!

I will eat from boredom, or depression, or cause it's Tuesday!
I even eat when I'm in pain
and since I'm usually in pain after the surgery I had
well it's a problem!

My self imposed assignment for the week is to identify hunger.
I mean before I put something in my mouth I ask myself
am I actually physically hungry?

I'm not saying this is going to stop me from eating,
often I say what the hell and eat it anyway
but I'm at least I'm trying to be honest with myself.

Honesty is a good quality!! I have to say at least 78% of all americans eat for something other than hunger! I eat to socialize (mostly), and I've curbed myself from doing that. Once you find your triggers, you just work to release them. As I have said so many times before in my Diary, my motto is: "greet it and then send it away" meaning greet the bad crap and then let it go! It takes time to change habits, and you can only take it day by day. I'll try to come up with some good ideas that might help, but I think what you'll find is it will have to come from within yourself. Well, I hope you have some good things planned for the weekend. Enjoy and keep smiling! :jump::jump:

No weightloss this week, but then I didn't gain any back either.

I didn't work out this week, well only 1 day!
My system shut down again!
I'm not going to go into details, but lets just say
me and the bathroom have been distant acquaintances this past week.
I've been in a lot of pain and on medication.
(I had most of my colon removed recently)
I don't want to go back to my surgeon again.
It really sucks.

So I'm feeling a little better and rode my stationary bike for 30 min yesterday
will try to do it again today.

I get really depressed sometimes....like now!
My body doesn't cooperate with me!
I'm taking forever to heal.

I want my life back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sona

btw,
Thanks Kim for stopping in here to check up on me
I'm afraid I've not been a very good friend in return
I'm hoping to make it up to you!

Sona,
Don't ever think I'm expecting a reply or for you to drop by my diary, just because I visit yours, I'm not keeping score here at all, I'm truly just happy knowing your on here and trying to do something for yourself and keeping yourself in check. That to me is reward enough. ;) I want you to stop being so hard on yourself, our bodies can take so much time to recover especially from surgery, take it easy okay?? You will heal in time, just keep on plugging along with your bike rides, that is SO GOOD for you!! You know about a month ago, I slammed my pointer finger into the door at the gym, at that time it hurt like hell and I whimpered a bit about it and went on, as of today that damn finger still hurts when I apply pressure to it or knock it a certain way. Healing time SUCKS, and I can't believe a stupid finger is going to take months to heal, so you have to think a colon and other surgery within the body, is going to take a lot, lot longer. But, once it is healed it's going to be 10 times better for you!! Keep your chin up, it will all come together for you soon, just stick with it and don't give up! I'm happy to see your still here!! Have a very good day today, and keep on biking!! :D

I don't know about you, but I think that's pretty darn good. [the mantaining weight thing] Esp. since you had surgery and aren't feeling well. I feel good about mantaining in general. You're doing great.

I hope you start feeling better soon. I've had 2 c-sections, so I have an idea of your pain level.

I get bummed like this too. You can pm me if you need someone to talk to. Do what you can and don't beat yourself up over the small stuff. K? *hugs*

Sona,

I've read most of your diary and your posts. It's quite a success to keep losing weight after a surgery, so be very proud. Do log in your goals, successes, calorie count and measurements. Making those public helped me on the way to weight loss. I really can't wait to hear some more updates from you.

Much love.

Sona,

Given your circumstances, not gaining weight is an acomplishment. Exercising when you feel shitty (or when you DON'T feel shitty ;) ) is really hard. It's so easy to fall off the wagon then. You have a lot of strength. Hang in there!

David

Wow I missed all of these wonderful replies!!!

Kim you're the best, I'm always so glad to see you here.

Hi SoSel, thanks for stopping by, OMG 2 c-sections?
that is tough on the body.
Thanks so much for offering me an understanding ear!

Hi Mesmerizing, nice to meet you!
Thanks so much for taking the time to read my journal.
I wish I was better at keeping up my postings to this site.

David, you are such a supportive friend
I hope you are doing well.

ok
I lost a half a pound,
I guess i didn't post at all last week
but then I didn't do much either
except I did get out and walk a few days.
I'm so glad it's cooling off a bit.

I'm having trouble with my stomach
nothing sits well
It doesn't seem to matter what I eat
it just gives me a belly ache and cramps.

You'd think that would stop me from eating but heck
I tend to eat for emotional reasons,
and pain is a trigger for me
How can someone eat when they're in pain
i have no idea, but I do it, and then I pay for it.

all in all I'm down about 6 pounds

sona

6 pounds is great!

If you weren't focusing on yourself and your weight you might have gained instead of losing and you'd be 12 pounds heavier than you are now.

So you should feel proud!

The desire to eat is very strong. My ex father-in-law loved MacDonalds, on the way home from his triple bypass surgery he stopped and ate two big Macs a large fries and a chocolate milkshake. HE knew it was killing him, but he ate it anyway.

I think that eating food is a way of affirming life somehow. Sometimes it is the final pleasure left for people. Things might be bad but if I eat I know I'm alive dammit! Changing that to "if I eat healthfully I will be healthy and alive for a long time is the trick.

I'm glad to hear from you again! I hope you're okay!

David

You did SOOO GOOD!! 6 lbs is huge! It takes a lot to lose even a pound, so don't get down on yourself for 6 lbs, I would do anything right now to lose a friggen pound a week, I'm so up and down right now, its driving me nuts. LOL LOL But hang in there, patience will get you where you want to be. I'm so sorry your having all those stomach pains, that really sucks!! Is there any medication you can take to relieve any of it?? Are you downing your water?? You know over the weekend I read somewhere that these people were using different water temps to help them lose weight. For example, when they wanted to fill up fast they would drink it cold. When they wanted to curb hunger they would sip hot water, with a little lemon in it, and there is some purpose for warm water. I love water, I just can't seem to drink my 64 oz a day lately, so far today I'm only down two bottles, I should be down 4 by now. Maybe you should see if a little warm/hot water with lemon will help you when your having those stomach pains. I hope you find relief and soon. Keep me posted!! Are you still drawing?
Kim
