So I guess I'm going to give this a shot...

I didn't have the healthiest eating habits during my four years of college (I graduated in May) and as a result my weight has fluctuated throughout the four years. I figured now is the time to learn to eat healthier and try to get into better shape. (Sadly I don't have a job yet --still looking so my days consist of sending out resumes and praying someone likes what they read! I just finished a temp job at an office and probably won't get another one for a month or so.) Anyway, I do not have a specific weight that I want to reach--I just want to feel better about myself because I can be quite hard on myself and tend to be neurotic about food...which is really unhealthy. I generally do not have the best attitude about eating. I always ALWAYS feel guilty after eating something crappy. So hopefully I'll be able to improve and that writing it all down here will help. I am planning on starting this healthy eating tomorrow even though I have a slight cold & it's labor day weekend which = BBQs and I've never met a cheeseburger I didn't like...

I guess I should also add that I am 22 years old, I am only 5'0" and I currently weigh 121lbs. I am going to try to aim to eat 1200-1350 calories a day. I also plan on doing cardio (at least 45 minutes) 5 times a week and strength training 3 times a week. In a dream world I would love to be 100lbs or look as good as Eva Longoria--but I'd be fine with getting back down to 113-115lbs even.

I have a headache/my one nostril is all stuffed (I HATE that.) I was really looking forward to the gym, but I decided not to go since I'm feeling crummy. Although I've read conflicting opinions on whether or not you should exercise with a cold. Anyway, so far today this is what I've eaten.

Breakfast

3/4 cup of Kashi Heart to Heart cereal w/ 1/4 cup blueberries, a banana, and 1/2 cup of skim milk - about 330 calories
1 8 oz glass of orange mango juice - 110 calories
Total: 440 calories

Lunch--but really it's more like a snack

I'm not really hungry but I did eat

Weight Watchers Strawberry Yogurt: 100 calories
about 6 baby carrots which... I don't know how may calories that is, but I'll guess about 40
bottle of water
Total: 140 calories

For a snack later in the day I had a serving of Kashi crackers which is 130 calories

For dinner I had grilled shrimp, salmon, and scallop teriyaki. It was goooood.

But THEN I caved and got a chocolate peanut butter cup yogurt w/peanut butter topping. I couldn't resist and am in the middle of some serious stupid drama that I've been dealing with since I moved home from college. I won't dwell on this indulgence I guess. Tomorrow I'll hopefully be able to make it to the gym.

Hello there.

Good luck with your weight loss and ask me anything you would like to know. I will try to give you an educated guess. You can do it just keep it healthy and exercise.

Robert.

Thank you!

Sometimes I just don't know how to determine how many calories I'm consuming--like today with the banana or the carrots. For the banana I checked a website called calorieking.com, but who knows how accurate it is. As for the carrots I just guessed it would be around 40.

I've noticed that I snack a lot and that I tend to eat out of boredom. (And this is a huge problem since I am now always bored since I just graduated and am still jobless) At least with school I was kept busy, but now... all I do is sit around, eat, eat some more, and go to the gym. I try to stay at the gym for as long as possible, but really after two hours there I want to leave.

I also need to have a healthier attitude about food and body image in general. I really can be too hard on myself and really beat myself up over a not-so-healthy food choice. (Like for instance the frozen yogurt tonight.) I know I'm not terribly overweight, but I just feel so unhealthy... physically. And also I really need to have a better attitude about food.

I know how you feel! i eat way too much when i am not at school. I find trying to distract myself and doing the am i hungry quiz everytime i go to eat something works well.

Ugh well I woke up late today... really late 1pm.

I figure I should eat something so I'm trying to decide between a bowl of Grape Nut Trail Mix cereal or a PB&J sandwich.

Had the PB&J w/about 7 baby carrots on the side. I figure that's all around 405 calories.

I had a Fiber One Chewy Granola Bar (Oats & Chocolate) = 140
and 1/2 serving of the Kashi Original 7 Grain Crackers = 65

I know I should definitely eat more today, but I woke up so late. Plus I'm feeling really crappy--headache and just down today. I should have went to CT to visit with some college friends. I really miss them and I'm tired of my "friends" at home ditching out on plans last minute. It's really very lonely here. To go from college where I was around people ALL the time and had something to do almost every night---to still being jobless and sitting home by myself every weekend is really depressing.

We'll see what I wind up having for dinner. I need to eat something to keep me full because I think I'm going to the movies tonight and under no circumstances will I indulge in that popcorn (even though it's really good.)

Oh and no gym for me today. I called and they were only opened from 8:30-1:00 today and I obviously missed that. I guess I could go for a walk, but my headache is really not giving me any motivation. My plan for tomorrow is to get up and walk with my dad at 7am (he typically walks for 3 or 4 miles) and then after that head to the gym. We'll see.
