Smoothie

Here are a few ideas:

Banana, orange juice, and Superfood (from Dr. Richard Schultz) in a blender. The Superfood will give you just about every nutrient and vitamin that you need and also contains things that help you lose weight, give you energy, give you better skin, etc.

Berries, ice, water (frozen berries are good)

Berries and milk (try all kinds of fruits, but maybe not citrus - these drinks are very common in Colombia and they are caled "liquados" there.) Try banana, strawberry, blueberry, blackberry, maybe mango, etc.

Berries and yogurt

Berries and yogurt and milk

Soy milk with fruit.

The one I tend to always make is:

fruit.. whatever I have bananas, peaches, blueberries, strawberries, etc.
add in the vanilla spirutein protein powder (you can skip it..I just like it)
then I pour in some vanilla soymilk & apple juice.

blend the mess out of it & enjoy.

I think honey would be good too, especially if you can get some local... then it would be adding in some allergry fighting properties too. I used to add in local bee pollen, which also can help fight allergies, or so I was told. I think the key is local on that aspect

Good luck with whatever you figure out.

I eat a fairly low calorie/high protein shake. I just blend these ingredients together.....

Orange juice
2 scoops Designer Whey
ice

It is a very simple smoothie and takes virtually no time to make. I have tried many different powder's and all of them have that wierd Whey taste, but this one doesn't. Sometimes I put in a tablespoon of flaxseed oil, which I can't even taste because of the Whey!:jump:

I adore my blender, and the smoothies it makes. My favourite mix:

1 cup milk (I use 1%)
a handful or two of frozen fruit
1 container (100g) of fat free yogurt

Depending on the fruit/yogurt mix you use, you can make up all sorts of flavour combinations. Adding up the calories of the components, one of these would come out to about 200 calories, from the types milk and yogurt I have in my fridge. If I need to sweeten it up, I just add about a teaspoon of liquid honey. Usually it isn't necessary though.

We make some thick and satisfying smoothies out of ice, water/soymilk/dairy, some fruit (often frozen blueberries or strawberries) and 1/2 tsp xanthan gum (available at the health food store sometimes in the baking area). The xanthan is a soluble fiber that really thickens up the mix. Add stevia for extra sweetness if it needs it, or whey powder for more protein. Have also used guar gum, but I like the texture of xanthan better.

Crazy Good Smoothie!

Well at a local eateru i guess you can call it called "Juice For Life" it features many different smoothies but the one i absoulutely LOVE is called "Tom's Brain Blast"

here are the ingredients:
1 Cup Skim Milk
2 Hand-Full of frozen Blue-berries
3/4's of a bananna
4-5 Big Strawberries
TBsp- Honey
Flax Seed

IT IS INDEED THE BEST SMOOTHIE I HAVE EVER HAD!!

you can of course switch it up to have more strawberries than blueberries or banannas to have less strawberries whatever floats your boat.

After adding them just mix in blender and your done!

AWESOME low-cal protein smoothie!!

Thought I'd share one of my new blender creations. After a lot of tinkering with recipes for good smoothies (which I LOVE for breakfast/post workout) I created this super easy one. It makes a HUGE smoothie with 14 grams of protein for under 250 calories.

Here it is:

1 medium banana
10 frozen strawberries
2 level scoops of ARIA Vanilla Protein powder
1/2 to 3/4 cup water or skim milk

Here is the calorie breakdown:
Banana-- 105 cal.
Strawberries-- 40 cal
ARIA protein powder -- 80 cal
TOTAL: 225/ 15 grams protein.

TIPS:
• I use water, because I think the powder gives the smoothie a creamy taste as is.
• Using frozen (unsweetened) strawberries gives it a better, thicker texture than fresh strawberries, but those work too!
• Aria Protein can be found in most GNC stores and in the health sections at big supermarkets. It's made by designer whey and marketed as a "women's protein" whatever that means! I like it because it has a lot of low-glycemic soy protein for relatively little calories.
