Smoothie

i have been looking at different recipes. most of the juice based ones call for orange or apple juice with a splash of lemon juice. the yogurt based ones I think will have more calories so ill have to research the calories in yogurt.

speaking of gnc, anyone have any ideas of a powder of filler that will help fill me up I can put in the smoothie that wont increase the calories too much....

In an back issue of Self Magazine,i spotted one that sounded really tasty...

it takes a little pre-planning but nothing outof the ordinary

1/2 banana
1 cup low fat soymilk (they used vanilla)
8 chai tea ice cubes (brew 2 cups of chai tea - or coffee - or tea would work) and pour into an ice cube tray and let freeze

blend til smooth

Depending on the soy milk you choose, it comes up to about 115 calories for a glass of it.

GNC carries some of the Garden of Life line - and they have this product called which is a high fiber supplement... i think it's 80 calories in a single scoop - but that's really all you need- G of L also has a full line of Greens and Fruit mixtures that are pretty tasty... I was on a Greens kick for a while, and when i couldn't get wheat grass i used the powdered greens...

Hey there

Strawberry Orange Quick Breakfast Blend

What you'll need
1 1/2 cups of Orange Juice
1 1/3 cups frozen unsweentened strawberries
1 1/2 cups nonfat vanilla frozen yogurt
2 Tablespoons of sugar or subsitute sweetener

Place orange juice and strawberries in blender
Cover and chop for 10 to 20 seconds.
Then add the yogurt and sugar (opitional) and blend for another 15 seconds.

Per serving : About 142 calories, 6 grams of protein, 30 grams of carbs, 1 gram of fat, 1 mg of cholesterol, and 64 mg of sodium.

Hope you like this one!

wow those sound good. um wheat grass um yukkkkkkk. I tried it at one of those juice places. Ill take the powder anyday lol......

Jaz's Fruity Fibrous Low-Fat Fruitdrink

-Put some frozen strawberries (or chopped frozen fruit of choice) in blender. I usually fill the blender a little more than 1/2 full.
-Add enough Soy Milk to cover fruit.
-Blend together on "Chop" until mixture smooths. Add more frozen fruit or soy milk to favored consistancy (thick or smooth).
-Add a couple tablespoons of honey (optional) and run blender on high to mix.

It's a surprisingly creamy, tasty and filling treat. :)

I estimated a large glass (approximately 2 cups) to be about 200-250 calories (when strawberries, honey and Silk vanilla soy milk were used). Without the honey (60 calories), it's less.

There's usually enough for two servings--which is helpful as the husband will steal mine otherwise.

Rum <perk>
RUM??? I wish!! doesnt that add calories???

I make Papaya smoothies...nothing but papayas.
Papayas are good for digestion which boost your metobolism and helps u lose weight. not to sound like a health freak..LOL

well I'm not sure of the calorie count but my Dr told me if I wanted a drink to have whiskey. It would be safe to say a full shot glass of your fav liver killer would be close to 100. I have also been told that your body will burn that before the carbs so you wanna make sure you have room for it that day. The last time I went to Mexico I had all kinds made with mango and papayas as well as a few fruits I had never seen before. I don't know if papaya is in season but I'm sure gonna look this weekend.

I love to drink!! Bacardi coco is my favorite! but since I decided that I wanted to lose weight I just stop everything I enjoy :-(
100 is too much for me to spear!

Yea papayas are in season but still a bit expensive. about 5 dollars for a whole one. what u can do is cut it up and freeze it in a zip lock bag. Ive learned this trick from a co worker. One of the best ideas she ever came up with (rare for her)
I hope you dont get too addicted to em!! :)

Remember to use splenda or equal to sweeten it up a lil and some milk

smoothie/breakfast recipes

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone had any smoothie recipes and/or quick recipes for breakfast? I was thinking smoothies would be good for a snack after I get home from school since I normally wind up eating as soon as I get home from school and I don't like to eat anything big then since I eat dinner a few hours later. I also used to skip breakfast alot and i've decided that i'm not going to let myself do that this year, so i'm looking for some quick and easy recipes for breakfast, i'm not normally that hungry in the morning and I think that's why I normally just skipped breakfast, but I normally feel pretty sluggish in the mornings and I think eating breakfast would definately help eliminate that (or at least some of it).
Thanks in advance,
Amanda :)

Thanks for searching for the smoothie receipes! It is a great help having variety. There is nothing like a diet killer like the same old boring stuff.

Smoothy suggestion?

Anybody here make themselves fruit smoothies as part of their diet? A lot of people seem to recommend it, and it does sound a healthy way to "fill that hole". I'm not a big fan of fruit but if it was mixed together I might like it... so what are people's thoughts? Anybody got any good suggestions for a tasty diet-friendly smoothy? :D

If you have a near you you could go there. They have great smoothies that are healthy. I don't know of any recipes, maybe you could it. :)

I would just say blend some ice, and different fruits in a blender with some equal or splenda. That should do the trick.
