mmmm sounds good to me! i will be trying this one!

Pretty much any couple fruits and juice you throw in will produce something delicious :D Smoothie sounds good right now. I'll look into making one, but I'm not sure if I have the right ingredients right now for one.

non fat yogurt (any flavour)
and fruits of any kind.
a little skim milk
a few ice cubes.

I live on these in the summer... ok, maybe not live, but everyday i usually make one. I usually just toss whatever fruit is on the counter in (or whatever I picked from the garden), whatever yogurt is in the fridge and a touch of milk. :) Delicious, healthy, and quick. I always add frozen blueberries to mine instead of ice. :) Blueberries are brain food, and I just love them. A good combo is peach, banana and raspberry.

Here's mine that we've kind of whipped up on our own
We purchase a small pkg (maybe 20 oz?) of frozen "Berry Meldey" mix found in our frozen food section.
1 banana (if you like that)
1 cup of fat-free vanilla yogurt
1/4th cup of orange juice/milk

Wala! :) You can leave the OJ/milk or banana out if you want. It just helps liquify everything so its not as thick. Its really tasty! And if it seems not sweet enough we sometimes add a packet or two of Splenda. Hmm. this is making me crave a smoothy right now! lol. :)

Smoothie suggestions

Ok a few warnings--I can't stand banana and I will eat strawberries, but really don't like them as the primary taste. Any idea for say a good raspberry or blueberry smoothie without bananas?

1 cup plain or vanilla fat free or low fat yogurt (I'm a fan of stoneyfield farms- it's about the only one without an aftertaste)
1 dash of almond or orange extract (or whatever extract you choose - not totally needed but it gives it some added flavor)
1 cup of ice
1 cup of frozen berries
1 squeeze of lemon juice (i think it adds some freshness to it

Blend til smooth. it's got body, it's substantial and it's not highin calories

I never put banana in my smoothies (too high in cals) and also I find I don't need them. I make mine with frozen summer fruits (or frozen raspberries, or black forest fruits!). I add low fat yog or milk, fruit juice to sweeten it if necessary. I might add an apple or a mango if feeling inspired, and nuts and seeds for zinc and selenium as i am trying to conceive. Anything really. Delicious. Also I add more or less depending if it is a snack or a meal.

One tip, add all the liquids, etc that you want, then add the fruit cautiously until you get to the right thickness for you, because I tend to put too much fruit in to begin with and then I have to add lots of milk or juice before it will blend properly (and of course extra calories  ).

The great thing about a frozen fruit smoothie is that you can make it like a drink, or you can make it thicker like ice cream, whatever you fancy!

slushies are good too...

Put some watermelon chunks, seeded and peeled in a plastic bag and stash in the freezer for a few hours.

Blend...

add some lemon juice or lime juice if desired (I am not a big fan of overly sweet stuff, so i always have fresh lemons or limes to drop on the fruit)

I've tried this with other fruit but watermelon seemed to be the best consistency.. Cantaloupe and honey dew didn't blend quite right.

And if you are going to have the odd drink, a drop of white rum makes it a lovely frozen watermelon daiquiri. :D

I need an idea for a smoothie

I know smoothies are made in different ways. I want one that will be fairly low calorie. I dont really want any sweeteners in it such as sugar or splenda. Im just looking for a naturally sweetend smoothie. Im thinking of frozen berries, Bananas. what im not sure about is the liquid agent. Orange juice or yogurt or some other mixing liquid????????

There's some here:

I don't like the super thick smoothies... nor doI like anything super sweet so I wouldnt add sugar to fruit...

I tend to just blend up some frozen fruit, a squeeze of lemon juice or lime juice, some plain fat free yogurt (i like the tang of it) and some extract (like almond or vanilla) if i want additional flavor.

A banana gives the smoothie some extra body and some richness to it...

Protein Smoothies

Hey h-, I drink a protein smoothie after workouts and it taste really good and low in calories (only 2g of fat). They fill me up for hours.

I mix crushed ice, 4 oz of water (or skim milk), half of a banana(depending on the size), 4 strawberries, and 1 scoop of protein powder (you can get this at GNC).

You can only mix the 1 scopp of protein if you work out, specially after lifting weights, other than that you will gain weight.

I hope this helps. ;)

Gain weight, egads no thank you. trying to give away what i have lol...... I used to use protein powders and stuff durring football and such. Im not near active enough for that just yet. But I think I will go to gnc and see what kinda things they have. havent been in in awhile......

Try the smoothie with out the protein powder, it taste good as well. Just add 1 pack of Equal.
