Should I lose fat or not? .. confused

17 Years old, 9 Stone 12, 5 ft 10 (maybe slightly higher but this isn't accurate).

Hi there people,
Today when I finished my gym session I thought I'd ask the helper lady to check how I'm going overall.
I've never felt the need to see how I was going, but at the begginning (last September) I was 19.5 percent BFI and I'm not sure how much BMI.

Now I'm 11.5 percent BFI and 20.5 BMI

For a while I've had an idea of getting down to 12 percent BFI and so now I'm actually less than that I don't really know what to do!
I am not satisfied, in that my ultimate goal is to have more noticable abs and offcourse a six pack would be nice :D

So should I carry on doing about 30-40 minutes Cardio and 20-30 minutes weights?
Maybe push myself more on the weights or something? I feel as if cardio is essential even if I'm not trying to lose weight as it is good for your body overall.
I dunno, what do you people think?
I'd really like everyones suggestions at this stage and it is very much appreciated.
I know I'm probably quite a typical case but a six pack is surely within my grasp now?

Cheers ppl.
Rob.

Also I wondered what the BMI and BFI effectively means considering my age and all the rest of it?
basically just the Implications, like is my weight and BFI/BMI healthy for my age and literally what BMI and BFI is?

Thanks again ppl.
Me.

BMI is useless. ignore this number, always.

a bodybuilder with 5% bodyfat will have a BMI that makes him obese.

a tall anorexic woman's BMI will show she's absolutely healthy.

at 11% body fat, its your decision...do you wanna see washboard abs, or do you wanna throw on a few pounds of muscle first?

Hey Malkore,
thanks for the advice there,
Well I am not keen on "Washboard abs" because to me it just looks skinny and doesn't appear like a sign of strength and muscle.
So what would you recommend I do to throw on a few pounds of muscle?

Also you say "throw on a few pounds of muscle first?" by this are you suggesting I lose some fat afterward?

Cheers mate.

Have you gotten yourself a full body scan with detailed explanation? Weight and BMI are not that important in fact. Getting to know your full body composition via a scan would be helpful e.g. muscle mass, body water, bone mass, BMR etc. Plus, you would know where you are and where you should be cuz it's individualized based on height, age, and all.

While reading your post I think that your main purpose is to get six packs as early as possible along with lose some extra weight.

If I am not wrong then you need do add something in your daily routine. Cardio is not a right choice for you. You can't get a six pack fast, or at all, if you don't do abdominal toning exercises. Crunches tone the upper abdomen. Reverse crunches tone the lower abdomen. Bicycle crunches tone the obliques. Please add those exercises and perform those regularly:

• Perform a crunch by lying on the floor, with your knees bent and your feet flat on the floor. Put your hands behind your head and use your abdominal muscles to pull your shoulders off of the floor, until your abs is fully contracted.

• Perform a reverse crunch by lying on the floor with your legs in the air. You can put your hands on the floor next to your hips, for balance. Use your abdominal muscles to lift your pelvis off the floor, and your legs into the air.

• To move on to the bicycle crunch, keep your legs in the air, with your knees bent, so that your calves are perpendicular to the floor. Put your hands behind your head, with your elbows extended on either side of your head. Squeeze your abdominal muscles to draw your left knee toward your right elbow, while extending the right leg, as if you were peddling a bicycle. Remember that you have to repeat the exercise on both sides of the abdomen for a balanced toning workout.

Keep in mind that those are the best abdominal exercise you should perform on regular basis if you want to get your desired six packs.
