Ship Shape.

Greetings all. I'm brand new here. I'm currently deployed with the Navy on a ship with VERY limited weight training equipment but we do have treadmills, elyptical striders, spinning bikes and step machines.

My regular workout consists of 30 minutes on the strider or treadmill at varying speeds and 1.0 degree incline and 30 minutes of walking with a 5.0 degree incline. I wear a 30 pound weight vest during my workouts.

I feel I need to include some sort of weight training in my routine but I don't have a clue as to what exercises to perform, (other than push-ups, sit-ups and pull-ups).

So, I'm just looking for some suggestions.

Weight training on a ship traveling at 30 knots through rough water is a quite an experience.

IS there anything heavy on the ship that you could lift (i.e. bicep curls)? Also for your Triceps (back of the arms) ask on the ship how to perfom dips as these are very good at building them up.

For your abs if you do crunches and leg raises that will target your upper and lower area of the abdominals.

For your chest try your press ups with some kind of weight that is safe enough to place on your back whilst performing them, that way you will build up more strength than preforming them alone.

For your legs do squats using your body weight and take about 1 min to lower yourself down and back up do as many as you can and after about 3-4 reps you will notice how hard these can be, if you take 1min to perform just one rep.

Im sure if you tryed these exercises out you would start to build some strength in youre body and this will certainly get you off to a good start.

Do you have a PT on your ship? He/she will be able to perscribe a plan for you that will meet your goals and Im sure they will agree that what I have given you is a nice little workout.

Good luck!
