Welcome! That sounds like a good food plan. Counting calories and knowing your calorie limit are both very important. And don't worry about not being able to take pills, most don't work and the ones that do don't help by much. Most people here are anti-diet pill. The only thing I have to add is don't cut out grains too much. Limiting them is fine, but get some, they are important too. Whole grains have a lot of nutrients, fiber and can be very filling.

As far as the exercise, do you have any access to a pool? Your local gym might even have a pool class. That's a great low impact way to exercise. Even if you can't swim, you can "run" around in the shallow end, do jumping jacks, etc.

If that's not an option, taking a 25 minute walk daily is still moving. Don't discount that. Your weight loss might be a bit slower then if you could burn more calories, but you can still get there.

ETA: If there is a YMCA in your area, they might have a pool class. The one in my town does and you don't have to be a YMCA member to join the class. The cost is a little lower for members, but if you aren't going to use the gym there's no reason to pay for the membership.

Great start, but just remember, you don't need cardio exercise to lose weight.

And before anyone starts, I'm not discounting exercise, but don't let the idea of not being able to do much get you down.

Plenty of people on the forum have lost a good amount of weight from a change in lifestyle alone.

That being said, obviously exercise is fantastic for you, your body, your health, and all, but do what level you are capable of without feeling like its not enough. Keep walking and check out all the stickies on the site about exercise to help give you some ideas of things you can do in your situation (upper body exercise, strength training, etc.)

Stay as active as you can, and it will work for you!

I have lost 31 pounds with 0 exercise.

Is exercise a good thing? Most definately..but for weight loss..it's actually not that effective compared to diet.

Think of it like this...It's possible to cut 1000 calories a day for 2 pound loss a week. Just how much exercise every day do you have to do to burn an excess 1000 calories?

It can be..but why does it have to be drastic? The ultimate goal is weight loss. It isn't about speed. You just need to make the changes in your life, small ones. If you are eating a baalanced diet and watching your calorie count, then it will come off. It might not be in vast amounts..though..at your height and weight with that calorie count, you should be losing more. I'm wondering if your calorie count is off? I don't know.

Main thing is it IS coming off so you are on the right track.
