sapped of energy any dietry or vitamin advice

Hi as previously stated I have been suffering from a chest infection was totally stopped my running for approx 5 weeks, I have since resumed and find I am totally exhausted half way into my usual run. I think the infection has taken its toll and would appreciate any advice on the best foods or vitamins to supplement my depleted system until I can regain full fitness, many thanks
 
Carbs, carbs, carbs. Vitimin C, AND, give yourself a break! After five weeks off you may have lost a bit of your endurance. Usually, you can go three weeks without much effect. However, especially having been sick, give yourself a week or two to get back on track. Treat yourself kindly.

It's hard to see, but internal infections and such wallop the body's resources. So simply taking a five week rest while otherwise healthy versus going through the trauma of healing a chest infection are two very different things. It's no wonder that your energy is down, so be gentle with your healing body and give it some time. Some people will push too hard and actually make themselves sick again. Don't do that! In time (shorter than you think), you'll be right back to the level you enjoy.

And lots of fruits, vegetables, and rest. :D
