Running help please

I have never been in great shape, fastest mile I have ever run was a little under 9 minutes. I am 6'4 weighing about 175. I just started lifting weights 3 times a week and running a mile at a 10 minute pace after that on a treadmill recently. The 10 minute mile on a treadmill doesn't fatigue me too much. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for proving my speed and stamina? Working really hard, what kind of improvements should I expect weekly or monthly and whatnot? Thank you for any help you can provide.

hey! well i started cross country this past fall and it starts kicking in! it takes a while, and what you have to do to see results is push yourself, jsut a coupla times a week, for instance you could run your normal 10 min pace for like 3 miles, then the second time run either faster or longer-go hard, then the last day go inbetween these two, you'll see results in like 2 months. it might help to increase the number of times you run a week also, we ran every day-except weekends-and i felt like dieing in the beginning, but after the first couple of weeks you get the hang of it. it really pays off, i started out running a 9:30 mile and hurting horribly at the end and after about 2 months, (this was just the next time we timed a mile) i was down to a 7:44 mile with energy left! i love running SO much now! good luck!

be careful ... i've heard too much running can make it addicting ... my uncle started doing it to get in shape and now he runs marathons ... eeek!!
