Running 2 miles a day

Is it bad for your legs to run 2 miles a day on a treadmill. I have just started running and my stepfather said it was bad to do this. Is this true?

It depends how you run. Depends on your shoes as well...typically a lot of running does damage to the knees in the very, very long run, excuse the pun. But I'd say it's not bad if you're just doing it as exercise.

If at all possible switch to using an elliptical machine or a static bike. They'll give an equally good workout minus the impact of running on a treadmill.

running 2 miles a day is perfectly fine as long as you take a day off every 5 days or so
make sure to strech good b4 and after every run

also stay hydrated throughout the day

i agree, i run 2 miles a day on pavement primarily and am fine. some people can do it fine, others not, depends a bit on the factors mentioned above.

it is especially good to run on a treadmill because they have shock's, thats better than running outside. Me personally i wouldnt reccomend any bike or elliptical i dont think you can get a workout on one of them like you can on a treadmill.

The treadmills are much softer than pavement; so that's a plus. And the elipticals are perfect to keep your knees in good shape. If your worried about your joints, just do treadmill one day, elliptical the next. Or maybe even bike.

Static bike is the same as exercise bicycle. It is training apparatus without wheels and with tuning pressure level for better workout.
