Before I start I just want to say that I love this site and I feel that this may provide the extra support I need to get me through.

I have always had a problem with my weight, constantly been on diets, lost weight and then just piled it back on again. I am really sick of the way I feel about myself, my own body, I need to change! I have been successful in all the other aspects of my life and feel that my weight and body image are the things making me feel unhappy. Not only do I want to lose the weight for me, I want to lose the weight for my husband-to-be. I have gained a 28lbs since I first met him 5 years ago and would love to get back down to my original weight before we get married. He says he loves me just the way I am but I am sure that it would make him happier if I were slimer.

I currently weight 166lbs (although this may be a little inaccurate as I weight myself after eating dinner) and I want to get down to 130lbs. My plan was to achieve this before my 25th birthday. Unfortunately this doesn't really give me enough time (10 weeks) to lose the weight healthy but I guess even getting half way there by my birthday would be a great achievement. At the end of it all, if I achieve my goal, I would like to treat myself to a shopping spree where I don't feel ashamed and embarrased when I try on clothes. For the first time in a long while I would like to put something on and actually feel good about myself rather than hide behind baggy clothes and big coats.

I am chosing my own plan to follow for weight loss which includes the following things:

1) Sticking to a 1200 calorie a day diet
2) Drinking plenty of water
3) Exercise 3 times a week (one hour each time)
4) Weight myself once a week (on a sunday)
5) No more crisps, chocolate, take-out or fizzy drinks

I intend to update my diary every day with how successful the day has been and then document my weight at the end of each week.

I am hoping this time I can lose the weight and keep it off and am very much more motivated to do this for myself.

at 2 pounds a week, which is considered healthy, you'll be more than halfway to your goal for your birthday - that's nothing to sneeze at...

welcome to your diary... good luck with achieving your goals

Hi Duckie :D Welcome to the forum! your plan sounds like a good one and healthy as well! :D How tall are you? Just curiosity gittin' the cat :D hehehehe

you'll get there! I'm sure of it :D

Thanks for all the support everyone, feeling good at the moment about it all and will be taking it all one day at a time.

BizeB - I am 5'3" :)

Just to update I weighed myself this morning and I am 164 pounds. I thought last nights weight straight after dinner may be a little off. Will update everything and start at this weight and will weight myself in the mornings in the future.

Woohoo 34 pounds to go!

What's amazing is that the fun starts from the second you lose the 1st gram.. You are merely utterly euphoric when you lose it all.. Enjoy this 10 weeks.. It will be like running downhill :p

Good Luck!!

:D

Sday~

Thanks for the kind words everyone. They have really been helping get me started. I have found when my mind thinks about food I just log on and read other peoples diaries and look at success stories and it makes me feel a whole lot better. This site is great!

I had a clear out of my fridge this morning. I have absolutely no will power if the food is sat in my fridge so I got rid of everything tempting. I didn't realise how much rubbish I had in there. Luckily my boyfriend is working away from home for the next 4 weeks so I can have just the food I am going to eat and don't get tempted by all the rubbish he eats (and never puts any weight on!)

Breakfast
30 grams cereal with milk (209 calories)

Lunch
Salad with feta cheese (140 calories)
Low fat dressing (30 calories)
Portion of strawberries (30 calories)

Dinner
Chicken with peppercorns (371 calories)
100g potatoes (100 calories)
Mixed vegetables (74 calories)

Snacks
2 dried fruit bars (86 calories)
Low cal hot chocolate (40 calories)

Total = 1080 calories (100 calories to spare for snack later if needed)

Also did 30 minute work out video - felt very unfit during but have felt much better during the day. So far have drank 2 litres of water, but am planning on more as its very hot here at the moment.

I guess its going well so far even thought this is only day one! Different strategy for tomorrow as I will be out all day. Going to have breakfast as usual, then make a packed lunch and leave my money behind so I don't buy anything, then I can have my dinner when I return.

Had a terrible headache all day, think it may be caffeine and sugar withdrawal! Pain killers didnt seem to touch it. Hopefully will feel better tomorrow and has given me more insentive to drink plenty of water, especially in this heat wave!

Thanks, a lot of it is down to the support on this site. Just reading through other peoples battles and knowing that I am not alone helps whenever I have cravings or just need a bit of a boost. 2 days down!

I just wanted to tell you that I quit caffeine a while ago and I remember the caffeine withdrawl. I am prone to headaches and I remember the all day headache. But there is good news. The withdrawl didn't last for long and I was off of caffeine before I knew it. So there is hope!

You are doing so good. Oh and I like your meal plans they look pretty tasty. Yum Yum!

Woke up this morning with "the headache" again. Dont think I can bare another day of it so cheating and having a large cup of tea (with non-fat milk)

Also got ont he scales this morning (I know I was going to wait a week but I just wanted to see how I was doing) And it said 159 pounds. I dont think that I could have lost 5 pounds in fat by doing just 2 days of dieting so am assuming this is just excess water. Worried that I shouldn't have looked because if I put it back on I will probably get disheartened.

Hoping for another good day, and that the weight I have lost stays off.

duckie the headaches can get bad. If you cut out sugar and caffeine its hard to tell which its coming from. My best guess would be the caffeine so if your use to alot you may just have to ween yourself down a little at a time....

thanks hillbillylee, I think it was the caffeine because I felt much better when I had the cup of tea. I think you are right that I should ween myself off slowly so instead of 6 cups a day I am having 3 then next week i'll cut down to 2 and so on until I am tea free!

About the tea thing. I love my tea and when I was pregos I really had to watch my caffeine intake and I switched to decaff tea. It tasted a little different in the beginning but I got use to it and now I don't miss the caffenated stuff. Just thought maybe you might really like your tea and not want to get rid of it completely this might be a good way.

Thats a really good idea, will look in the shops for it next time I go. I wonder if you can get decaf green tea - a friend suggested to drink green tea as its full of good stuff like anti-oxidants.

Breakfast
Strawberries (30 calories)

Lunch
Salad with reduced fat brie (200 calories)

Dinner
Pasta with homemade tomato sauce and cheese (645 calories)

Snacks
2 dried fruit bars (82 calories)
Reduced sugar hot chocolate (40 calories)
2 cups of tea (so far) (10 calories)

Total = 1007 (193 left for snacks later on if needed)

No exercise again - oops, think I may need to a find a hobby that motivates me more to do exercise!

At the end of day three and am still feeling quite good about it all. Its usually around this time I have a cravings but so far I have been feeling full after my meals and always have enough calories spare in the evening for a snack like cereal or a slice of toast. I have noticed that my skin is looking better and I am guessing that its all down to the extra water - who needs expensive skin treatments when you just have to drink 3 litres a day!

Hey... I'm glad you don't let your in-laws get to you. You're doing a great job with your dieting and keeping track of what you eat!
