Roy's diary starting Sep 12 2010!

Keep it up.

You do know on the days when you eat 100gms of almonds and 100gms of peanuts, you are taking on 1,100+ calories (assuming they are raw). I realise nuts are very good for you and not saying there is anything wrong with what you're doing if it suits you, but you could have a half kilo of steak or fish, a few litres of soup, a couple of Big Macs or 1.5 litres wine as a calorie, although not nutritional, replacement. Not that I'd necessarily recommend doing that. Avocados are another thing in the high calorie - high nutrition catogory.

Personally I prefer to see a bit of volume before my hunger dissipates, but if your ploughing away as you are without feeling hungry then I wouldn't bother changing.

@ laele - yeah I feel fit and healthier but I just dont see the difference yet. Im sure it will come soon as a lot of others have mentioned it

@kittybonkers - thanks for following and I wish you the best on your weight loss as well.

@splodge - peanuts and almonds are good for a high protein/fat diet and low carb diet which is what I am roughly doing. And yeah, probably 50gm of each before lunch will keep me full and not craving anything sweet so I think it is good overall.

Friday was bad - didnt do any exercise and went to the pub to catch up with a mate of mine who is in town. He is my old drinking partner and put me in a lot of uncomfortable situations when trying to buy me a drink or tell me to drink faster. I ate a schnitzel with chips and about a dozen beers.

Sat was even worse - It was the Aussie Rules grand final day and generally this is the biggest drinking day of the year. I would have eaten about 2 pizzas throughout the day (my gut currently feels pretty bad) and drank 20 odd beers. Luckily I went for an 8km run in the morning but I doubt it will do much. Unfortunately, the footy match was a draw which means they replay the full match next week. This means, more pizza and beers next week!!! Damn!

I am starting to tell some people about my weightloss as well. I have made a bet with my sister in law to start running with her in December (she is currently a lot quicker than me so I need some time to catch up pace). Most people are supportive but my drinking buddy, whom I was out with on Friday, seems pretty unsopportive. He has constantly been telling me to drink quicker, rolling his eyes when I am telling someone about my exercise regime, and I feel as though he is jealous cause he does not have the same drive to lose weight as I do. Luckily he lives intersate and I dont see him as much as I used to, when I drank a lot harder and consequently put on a lot of weight.

I dont have a lot planned for today except moving some hard rubbish at my parents (which is better than nothing I suppose). I will have to watch what I eat more strict today and this week to get back what I have put on in the last couple of days. I need another good week like last (I need a whole year of that type of ethic!).

100gm of peanuts and almonds
lunch was 1/2 roast chicken
dinner was 400gm of t-bone steak
1 coke zero
3 cups of tea, no sugar or milk.

I dunno how many calories but it was pretty low carb today.

Went for a 2km swim after work. In about 42mins, so not too bad.

Also bought some new shoes - asics gt 2150:

They are the most expensive shoes I have ever bought but I thought why not? If I plan on doing some running, I may as well by something decent. I am really looking forward to testing them out tomorrow.

100gm of peanuts and almonds
lunch was 1/4 roast chicken and some salad (greek and tabouli)
dinner was 400gm of t-bone steak
1 coke zero
4 cups of tea, no sugar or milk.

exercise was the worst run for me for a while. Only managed 38mins before I had to stop cause the blisters from my new shoes got too bad - not fun at all. I hope they will be better the next time I try to go for a run in a couple of days.

So annoying....

1 sausage roll for brunch
yiros meat and salad for lunch
bacon, egg, mushroom and tomato for dinner.

not the best day food wise, would have been pushing 100-120gm of carbs I reckon.

exercise was a 2km swim in 36mins, so pretty good tonight.

hopefully the run tomorrow is better on my feet than yesterday. I have had big weeks of swimming and big weeks of running but havent yet been able to have a big week of running and swimming combined.

1 double cheeseburger
2 pieces of raisin bread toast with butter
1/4 chicken with salad (coleslaw, greek salad, tabouli)
6 inch subway sub (chicken fillet)
1 coke zero
1 kabana (probably 50gm)

so a crap day for dieting and even crappier day of exercise.
my feet blistered again from my shoes
45mins of crappy weights at the gym (no real intensity)

I finally weighed myself for the first time since 14th sept:
92.3kg - 14th Sept
91.9kg - 30th Sept

So only 400gm loss in 15 days!!!!!!!! Bloody hell!!!!!!!!

I need to reevaluate what I am eating and how I am exercising cause it is not really working at the moment...at this rate, it will take me 2yrs to reach my goal weight!

another crap day
1 pastie
1 sausage roll
1 mushroom pie
1 packet of m&ms 45gm
1 600mL coke zero
1 330mL diet coke
300gm steak
lots of green salad

I sort of cracked the diet today on the back of a disapointing weigh in.

exercise was swimming 2km.

This weekend will be crap cause it will be filled with drinking (monday is a public holiday and afl grand final party tomorrow) and I cant run cause my feet are sore cause of the new shoes.

I am disillusioned with weight loss at the moment. It seems like a big catch 22 - if I exercise hard, I am too hungry and if I dont exercise I tend to eat heaps of crap.

I want to be fit and thin not just thin and I am definitely doing it incorrectly at the moment.

Im back!

what a crap last 4 or 5 days. less said about them, the better.

Going to hit this diet and exercise hard again.

breakfast: bacon and egg with some mushrooms (yep back onto breakfast)
lunch: wholemeal roll with ham and salad
dinner: 400gm steak

no milk or sugar in my tea today.

now also taking vitamin d3 and fish oil caplets to supplement my diet. apparently, from what I have read, d3 deficiency is pretty prevalent amongst most people and can help with weight loss and muscle recovery. Lets hope it works.

forgot to write about the exercise - ran 4.5km in 25.30mins was a good run and quick for me but I deliberately ran a smaller distance as my feet are still a little blistered. hopefully the shoes are broken in now though.

later!

bacon and tomato for breakfast
then a ham, cheese and tomato croissant and fruit kebab for a second breakfast (I had a meeting in the morning which had breakfast provided).
lunch was a wholemeal ham, cheese and salad roll
dinner was 400gm of steak

exercise was 1km swim in about 17mins (reasonably quick). Only did 1km today as I wanted a short session cause I couldnt be bothered for a longer one, no point pushing myself if I dont really have to.

had a four fish oil caplets (2 in the morning and 2 with dinner), 2000IU of D3 caplets and a multi vitamin. Starting to become a bit of a pill popper!

hey roy,

good to see you have gotten back on the healthy food bandwagon, its unrealistic to demand 100% perfection and i think having a few bad days and being able to rise above them is really fantastic!! keep up the great work, plateaus are normal (so i hear) and just quietly 400grams is nothing to be sniffed at!! Its still a loss!! chin up xx

Thanks Katie.

Today was not great.
Breakfast was bacon and egg
lunch was a chicken, cheese and salad wholemeal roll
I had a small piece of carrot cake for afternoon tea (an office bday cake).
dinner was a home made style hamburger and a small serve of chips plus two beers (dinner was at a work function ten pin bowling night).

exercise was ten pin bowling - if you can call it exercise.

So today was a bad one but that was mostly because of the work function which meant I could not eat a good dinner or get some good exercise done.

Tomorrow wont be good for food as we go to the pub for lunch at work.

The work shows like friday lunch, bday parties and after work events like bowling are ones which I wont give up only because it is good for my career to get along to them. I'll just have to be extra diligent at other times...

egg and chorizo for breakfast
schnitzel with bacon and cheese topping and some chips (haha!) with two beers for lunch
chorizo and some chicken for dinner

so I did not do well at lunch but it was pretty low carbs except the beers and had a fair bit of starches in the chips. I didnt finish all the chips that came with it.

I felt a bit guilty from lunch so went to the pool after work. I swam 2km straight in about 40mins and was pretty knackered at the end of it. I think it was the beers but I almost threw up when I got out of the pool. Hadnt felt like that in a while and once the spew feeling subsided, I felt really good!

So it is now weekend in Adelaide. My plan for the weekend is to go for an 8km run tomorrow and have a hit of golf on Sunday.

From tomorrow until next friday will be extra strict as next weekend will be filled with booze.

Well done for going swimming! Beer is horrrrrible for you though--do you like any other types of drink? xxx

yeah I love vodka matinis but only I can make a martini which I like (you need the perfect amount of vermouth and I have my own jar of olives soaking in vermouth which makes it 10000x nicer and pubs dont do that). Plus I cant buy a martini as a substitute at a work lunch when I have to go back to work after.

What is your poison Sunflower?

Now I want a vodka martini! :willy_nilly: That's not fair Roy, you shouldn't tempt people when they're trying so hard to avoid these things... ;)

Beer's evil sister--WINE! Such a waste of calories (about 1000 a bottle and I'll easily put away two a night if I can afford it) and totally not worth the hangover or the "wine gut" but I still love it! :cheers2:

seems like ages since I posted in here.

been doing alright but not lost much (probably a 1lb only) since my last post.

All weekdays I do really well: low carbs and plenty of exercise.
But on the weekends I have been drinking waaaay too much and eating like crap.

Today is Satdy and will be no different. I have a BBQ house warming on and I cant say no to a drink.

And next week I have a work drinks night with clients and then I am going to the races for a 4 day bucks show.

I get annoyed when I think about it. I just want a month off alcohol but I cant ever see it happening.

Im going to go for a run now and then to the BBQ...

just got back from a run.
feet feeling good, my shoes are now broken in!
good time, about 7.8km in 47mins.
now to drink some beer...

first time I have posted since october.

Just reading back over some of my old posts and realised how far I had gone back.

Only swimming a couple times a week and not running at the moment. Almost back to where I started in Sept. last year....

Joined the work running team last week so going for a run tomorrow (not liking the thought of it as it is wet and cold here at the moment).

Going to get back on the low carb diet with intermittent fasting. Worked well last time, hopefully it will again.

3km run in the morning
IF for 15hrs
had some homemade biscuits at about 11am
salad roll for lunch
swam about 1200m after work
steak and sausages for dinner

so good day exercise wise, could have been better without the biscuits.

Tomorrow will be a bad day - got a work lunch so good italian food and wine at lunch which I wont refuse.

Will have to go for a run and swim tomorrow as well.
