Routines

Hey, I am new to this site and have been reading the last couple of days. I think I have a fairly good routine right not but after reading this site and it's threads I realized that maybe I could change some things. Maybe pick up some good and some overrated exercises.

I actually have a few questions to ask:

1. What do your routines look like? I would like to see what other people are doing.

2. How much is too much? How many days a week is too many? How many exercises in one day is too many?

3. What are the best exercises to do? And what are the ones that many people think are good but just aint that good? From what I have picked up from reading the boards the last couple of days I realize that compound exercises should be done.

And another small thing, I have never done dead lifts and would like to try but I am worried about injuring myself if I don't do it exactly right. Are there any good sites that explain how to do exercises correctly?

If any help is given it would be much appreciated. I know that there are a lot of knowledgeable people on these boards and hope they can help me, Thanks.

Sorry if these are stupid and repetitive questions. I just want to have a great routine in place.

Well from reading these boards you probably realize:

1) There are lots of different routines. Some are different because of time limitations, or we believe full body or split is best, or any number of reasons!
2) How much is too much is when you are sacrificing good form just to move the weight. I think most people would say 5 days a week is probably as much as you should do. And the number of exercises varies, though, in my opinion, (if you are doing a split routine) 3 exercises per body part is good.
3) You answered your own question, compound lifts are just super important.

As far as deadlifts, here's a decent site with some videos:

Good luck! Pick a workout, try it out, if it's not challenging you or you're not gaining, then adjust. Sadly, there really is no magic pill of the perfect workout that I have seen!
