rotator cuff exercises?

what kind of exercises work the rotator cuff and is this a muscle on its own or part of the shoulder joint itself? i sometimes have sore shoulders pressing.
 
just google "rotator cuff exercises" and you will find lots!

What do you mean is the rotator cuff a part of the shoulder joint itself? The muscles go from the scapula and attach on the humerus, so they go over the shoulder, if that's what you mean..
 
and--- be careful "focusing" on that one. It can feel strong right up until injury... so start smart and controlled about this.

Internal rotation, external rotation and the initial 15 degree of abduction.

You can also use a stability ball with your arms out stretched, which will cause these muscles to stabalise the shoulder or more specifically, the glenohumeral joint.
