Hey! I'm Lexa currently living in Toronto, Canada. I've decided to make some life changes and I'm here for some motivation, support and education!! I'm super pumped to start my journey weighing in at 157.8 LBS and my height is 5 foot 7-8 ishl. My goal weight is 130 LBS. I recently joined an awesome Rec. facility and just discovered I LOVE running.... as long as it's Not on a treadmill. Can't stand the "not-going-any-where-staring-at-the-wall" feeling.. lol.... I'm hoping to get there by doing a lot of running, swimming, biking and fitting in yoga and spinning classes as well. Going through some peoples journals on here and looking at before and afters has totally motivated me and I will be starting my own journal.. it seems to be helping a lot of people reach their goals. Oh I'm also a vegetarian so any great veg recipes anyone has been using send my way!!.. I generally eat very well but I have a HUGE!! sweet tooth that needs to be tamed... :p questions, comments whatever are totally welcome!!

Hi, and welcome to the forum. I too am a vegetarian (well, I guess pescetarian because I do have fish a few times a week) with a sweet tooth. I found the sticky threads at the top of each board to be full of useful information. Another thing I found useful was using fitday.com to log my daily food (thedailyplate.com is another free food tracker). Congrats on the running --exercise has been the hardest part of weightloss for me. Again, welcome!

Thanks so much for the info and encouragement! Much appreciated! I'm going to check out the fitday site. In my case I usually find that i can either get exercise or eating good down but rarely both at the same time! And thats what I need to do LOL. Why would it be easy ??

Ahhh you're soo lucky! I used to run at a huge gym when I lived in rochester they had a small oval track 2nd floor over the basketball court and windows all around it to the out doors, you could run for an hour and not notice!

Now that I've moved to Buffalo I'm stuck with my treadmill in my basement and it's deffinately rough to run 4 or 5 miles stairing at the same washer, dryer, moldy floor and cobweb covered rafters... Good luck! Sounds like with some support this should be easy for you :D

Hahaha that's how it was at my moms house, if I wanted to use the incline I had to aim the treadmill so my head would fit right inbetween two rafters! hahaha

I've found parking the treadmill in front of the tv helps. Not that there is anything on tv worth watching mostly, but it is a distraction.

I've watched one heck of a lot of history television and discovery this winter.

Summer can't come soon enough.

True, and it's not a half bad idea, however my treadmill will not go upstairs haha so it would be parking a TV in the basement

That's where mine is, in the basement.

Music can be good motivation too. But I've been putting off picking up a good set of earbuds and the ones that came with my the ipod have some unfortunate issues with sweat.

Punk rock is good for setting a pace for running.

I pod earbuds are the worst!! I just broke another pair myslef. I'm definatly super cool now and wear some full sized wesc headohones... lol... I'm sad to say that I honestly Can't exercise without music... well.. I could It just wouldn't be nearly as fun.
