Rebel's Diary

Hang on, I thought Gael´s parents lived in Ireland? Did you know they were coming? Hope in-person conversation is more pleasant than that phone call
Some French food is great. I really don´t mind how much cutlery is on the table, I just get upset when every dish is basically butter, eggs, cheese and flour. But then that´s how Austrians eat, too...

Yea they do. I had no idea they were flying down. I've talked to her dad a few times since the first call. The first time we talked he was upset. The other calls were totally different.
Yea the food is really rich. A lot of southern food is the same way so it's just what you get used to I suppose.

122 lbs lost is awesome Rebel. Good for you!!!
So, things are moving along with Gael? You must enjoy her company. How was dinner?

Thanks...

With Gael things have gotten pretty serious. Yea she's fun to be around. She's on of the few people that my anxiety doesn't go nuts when I'm with them. I'm meeting them at the restaurant at 8pm. Its only about 5:30pm so I still have a little time.

Back from dinner. Food was good but not exactly my kind of place.

B- oats with peanut butter, raisins, and protein powder.

L- chicken tandoori with saag, wrap with avocado and sliced cajun turkey.

D- I'm not even going to try and spell it the way it was on the menu but it was a half chicken roasted inside a parchment bag with carrots and potatoes.
( yup I went to a fancy restaurant to eat dinner out of a paper bag. What tha....)
Dessert tray I skipped. Boy did I have to skip it. It looked so.....ugg nevermind.
Calories were about 2300 which is what MFP wants. If I did go a little over it's not too bad. My BMR is in the 3200 range.

The parchment bag usually means less excessive fat (because all the juices stay in the meat) so that sounds like a good choice. Did you have a good time? Tbh if Gael knew her folks were coming and didn't tell you beforehand that worry me a little. She sounds like a wonderful person and you may need a bit of convincing to believe you actually deserve to be happy just as much as the Brads, Toms and Georges of this world buuut boundaries and open communication are still important in my not always humble opinion.

Yea I had a good time. Her dad is a character. He seemed to be more relaxed than he is over the phone. Her mother is real sweet. She is almost exactly the same as Gael; just a slightly older copy. The chicken was good so I asked the waitress if she knew how it was made. She sent a chef out. He was concerned something was wrong but I explained about the weight loss and the type of foods I try to stick with. He said it was a good choice because just about everything else they offer is really heavy and dense. Its just chicken and they rub it with a little olive oil then salt and pepper and .....not sure of the spelling... Herb de provence..then add the veggies and more salt an pepper. They pour in about an inch of chicken stock and a few pats of compound butter. He said the butter is just a mix of butter and garlic and parsley. Then they just bake it off. He said at home I could just use aluminum foil if I didn't want to buy the special bags. So I might give it a try soon.
I'm taking them to the ranch tomorrow to look around and do some target shooting.
She did know they were coming down. She didn't tell me for fear of me having a sudden out of town emergency. She probably would have been right........

Just getting over something that does a real good Flu imitation. Food hasn't been that good. At least, not the cooking kind. Cottage cheese and fruit cups with no sugar added, peanut butter raisins diced green apple thrown in a bowl, indian food frozen dinners. Stuff to keep you alive when the room is spinning.
Today is the first cooking in awhile. Think my eyes were bigger than my stomach. Breakfast at 5am was 4 slices of bacon, 10 ounce grilled ham steak and 4 eggs. Oh I'm miserable. I imagine ill be starving late tonight with no calories left. I'll just see how it goes.

Misery loves company. I have a toothache. I have sympathy!
I got a bad staph infection when I had my first back surgery. Ever since then my immune system has been shot. Someone gets the sniffles I end up in the hospital. Uggggg I'm glad I'm not a horse, I would have been shot long ago.

Tooth pain..... I know it too well.
Hope it gets better soon.

Things haven't been going too well. Drama has reached TILT level. I've been eating once maybe twice a day. Needless to say, calories haven't been an issue.

One of my cousins died. No one bothered to tell me until 2 days after the funeral.
My grandfather leaving me the ranch land bruised some egos so I guess I'm officially the black sheep of the family.

The X found out about Gale. She called raising hell and it just got bad. Oh well, id rather deal with her flying monkeys than her showing up in person.

Almost went to jail yesterday. There was a protest downtown. One of them set an American flag on fire and I lost my temper and got into a pretty good fight. They cuffed about 20 of us and put us in cars headed to the city jail. About 6 miles from the jail he pulled over a taxi. He pulled me out of his car walked me to the taxi uncuffed me gave me my wallet and pistol back gave the driver $40.00 and drove off. So all and all it wasn't terrible because it could have been much worse.

I personally never understood the reverence people have for colorful pieces of cloth, really. Just makes you vulnerable. Really glad you didn´t go to jail, of course, but... a police officer shouldn´t be making that kind of call. Cause that means he probably does it in cases where I don´t personally agree, too, and that´s not a good thing in a functioning, modern democracy.
About the ex: urgh! I can understand not wanting to be with someone anymore. Shit happens. And I can understand feeling horrible about getting dumped. But... trying to keep another individual (who, incidentally, is at least partly responsible for the happiness of your offspring) as unhappy as you can for the rest of your/their life? Urgh squared.
Sorry about your cousin. My dad´s the black sheep in his family and it really sucks.

I guess it all breaks down to a point of view. To most Americans it's more than just a piece of cloth. It's a symbol of our freedom. Men and women have been killed defending those freedoms. When I was in the military I was shot at more than once just because that flag was on my uniform. So for someone to set it on fire like it means nothing in front of me......
It's kinda like the royal family in england. To most Americans they aren't anything special. Rich people than breed to make more rich people. Their arrogance so inflated they expect people to bow to them. If I walked up to one and punched him people over there would be up and arms. It would be more than a simple assault. Because of what they felt he represented it would be personal to them. Symbols can be powerful to some people.

Most cops here are x military so I guess he felt fighting someone for burning our flag was an acceptable oops and the courts shouldn't have to waste their time with it.

The X------ I just can't figure her out.......

Sorry to hear about all the stress that's going on! I don't know anyone who has family where nobody is a bit funny with each other, but still doesn't make it easier (blood relations or exes!)
