Rebel's Diary

O wow, you really did change your life around! I think satisfying your appetite with low-cal foods is much better than always going hungry. Our bodies are really good at getting what they want and at some point you would simply have lost all motivation. Very, very well done buddy.

That is an amazing difference Rebel!

Today is going ok but its going to be a breakfast at 4pm and dinner at 1am kinda days. Thinking breakfast the microwave is going to b my friend. Actual cooking, um maybe later.

:) Over here you can get 5 liter gherkin cans. You mean one of those? :p
Oh i wish. This was like a little 8 ounce or i think 200+ grams(sorry the metric system is NOT my friend ;)
I know most canned veggies are 3.5 serving but this little innocent looking thing; so unfair.
And yes i did eat the whole thing but thats beside the point :)

I ask uncle Google if I need to convert to freedom units. 8 ounces is ~227 g, 5 liter is ~1.3 gallon. 3.5 portions in a 227 g can is ludicrous. A portion of veggies (according to the guidelines here) is either 100 g (if you´re being generic) or a fist-sized helping (if you´re being more precise). And I usually have ~3 portions of veggies per hot meal.

Fresh green beans are awesome anyway but adding a bit of fat and umami flavor really brings them to the next level.
Two questions:
- Were you hurting after that 30-minute shop?
- Did you make those sausages yourself? Once that would have been a no-brainer but these days the term "home-made" confuses me. Sounds delicious either way :p

After the walk i felt fine and my breathing was just fine also.
The sausage i made it myself or at least had the butcher shop do it for me.
I had gone out to the ranch some time ago and i heard a noise from the woodline. A doe had stepped into a gopher hole and broken her leg. I couldn't leave her like that but i wasnt going to waste the meat either.
As a land owner i have a form i fill out and it allowes me to take animals year round as long as its on my property. It's a governmet form so its anal as hell. Date time reason for the kill like food or it was injured and suffering got in my garden just whatever. It pretty much ask you everything except how your hair was parted.
I took it to the butcher and he ground it up added about 25% porkfat and turned in into sausages for me.

Ad 1: Awesome! That may mean it's time for daily walks, yesno?
Ad 2: poor deer but it's a lot better than starving or getting found by predators when unable to flee. Back when my parents bred pigs we'd occassionally get a sow slaughtered for our own use and our butcher would make the most amazing saucages. I'm still sad he pensioned himself off one day.

Im not sure about daily walks but yea i really need to get started on that.

Growing up mostly on the farm/ranch or i guess it was a franch. My grandfather taught me hunting skills planting and harvesting fruits and veggies fishing so mostly guy stuff i guess. My grandmother showed me my way around a kitchen. General cooking as well as preserving foods such as canning and pickeling and things like that.
So i guess im in the minority when it come to still having survival skills that dont include the grocery store.
The problem is the stores are so damn convenient.

Franch sounds awfully hipster :p And you sound like a very useful person to have around! Planting/harvesting would be traditional women's work in large parts of the world as far as I know. Funny how that differs among cultures. Around where my parents live the soil was extremely poor so it was all hands (m/f) on deck for pretty much everything agricultural.

Yea it probably is here too. But it was something he liked to do. He grew um grandma cooked um.
Every few years he would fill the garden... Well not really a garden it covered about 2 acres. Any how he would cover i with hay cow manure and coffee grounds just whatever. Then he would take a home made blow torch to it and set the whole thing on fire. Then he would till it all in. Something about the ash it really kept things growing well. Its pretty common here in the coastal zone. Not the best soil to start with.
