Quoting from another thread

I moved this from the original thread, because my response has nothing to do with the original poster.

What happened to basic modesty in our society?

I have also wondered the same when I see young girls walking around with "Sexy" across their backside, including in the school system (where I think such things should be prohibited). Of course it's going to cause people to look at the child's [insert body part here] if there are shirts/pants/shorts with stuff written across their bosom or buttocks. I personally don't plan to purchase any clothing like this for any of my future children, and would never buy it for someone else's.

I don't agree with girls only being allowed to wear one piece bathing suits or no suits at all, but I do agree that age should be considered in the type of suit that is worn e.g. String bikinis vs. tanktop bikinis vs thong bikinis etc.

I'm older than the average person here - and I sometimes wonder the same thing myself when I'm out and about - though i often wonder if some people have full length mirrors at home that they look at themselves in before heading out in public.

I am a walking glamour don't most of the time, I shold have a permanent black bar over my eyes.. but my clothes tend to fit me or are oversized - i would never wear anything tight - some people wander around in clothes that it looks like their circulation is being cut off.. or are revealingly tight (camel toes are not a good look outside of some internet porn sites.)

I think what bugs me more than anything - i see some girls or young women wandering around with sexy on their backside, or something more risque across their boobs and then get downright offended when people check ot their bum or boobs - don't put it on display if you don't want people to look.

I'm all for people having body confidence no matter what size their body - but I really think that some of those people are overcompensating for lack of body confidence... and would probably feel a lot better about themselves in clothes that fit or drew less attention to themselves.

(I think i've watched entirely too many episodes of What Not to Wear :D

I completely agree with the both of you. I'm 17 and I can't even figure out the girls now a days. I always dressed modestly, and here and there you get the low cut shirt or the jeans that are just a tad tight in butt.

But there is a difference between a low cut V neck/lower cut shirt and down right drawing attention to your breasts with words or a plunging neck line. You see girls who are 12 and 13 starting in on all of this, they try to find the teeny tiny small skirts, the tight tops with slogans and words like "Baby" or "Sexy" or something. I've always wondered, didn't their parents teach them anything? Don't their parents look at them before their kid walks out of the house?

I'm not saying it's the parents fault, but some parents hand a 13 year old money and let them buy an outfit that you'd swear you say on a five year old down the street.

What happened to jeans that fit? Underwear that stayed under the jeans (personally, if your pants are so low your thong is sticking out, then you're just asking for it)? Shirts that looked decent?

Teenagers just aren't tought how to dress nicely and sexy. Alot of girls seem to try and look to look "sexy", but they end up looking like tramps, when they could easily wear a modest outfit and look just as great.

And on the subject of swimsuits, I agree with Photo, they should be worn according to age. A young teen in a thong bikini is over the top, but it doesn't mean that every teenage girl has to wear a one piece and feel ashamed to be proud of what they look like.

=/ Sorry if that was all babbling, but it felt good to get out!

Another thing to add on this ... why are young teens wearing thongs?

I just don't get the reasoning behind it.

I do agree with some of what everyone is saying about the age and how your dressed but I saw someone wearing a bikini type outfit to show before pics NOT thongs or cleavage showing basically trying to show tummy then again I see there are some PERVERTS out there that may look at that wrong(and there is atleast 1 PERV I know of here)and shouldn't especially being shes a teenager.I do have 2 girls 7&8 getting ready to turn 8&9 and I would do anything to make sure that kind of behavior don't start.I most certainly wouldn't buy them clothes that say SEXY across the booty or lowcut shirts ect. I see both sides but lean more to the safer side which is when my kids turn teenage they wont be posting swimsuites underwear bra pics anywhwre on the internet! Tammy

don't knock it till ya try it!!!!

I will never understand the reason a young teen has a need or desire to wear thongs.

As for trying it, there is no way that I can "try it" again as a teen, since to my knowledge there is no machine that has been created and is effective for time travel.

I never said "I" don't or haven't worn thongs, but I'm not 13 either, in fact, I'm more than double that #. I still don't find butt floss the most comfortable item of clothing, but I think the same about bra's and still wear them...

All I was saying is that I don't find them very appropriate for young teens. Maybe you are a young teen who likes to wear them, but if you were my child, I wouldn't buy them for you.

I have a problem personally with little kids wearing revealing clothes.
Im talking like 4 year olds in string bikinis.
As a mother of 2 daughters, i am horrified that parents set their young children up for kiddy fiddlers or worse stuff when they are older.
Not only bikinis but whatever is 'fashionable' at the time including crop tops and hipsters etc.

What about the parents who dress the way you describe the teens here? Alot of moms in my area are dressing so revealing its disturbing. They are walking into the store with their daughters and both are dressed like hoochies. I dont get it.

but but but - when i get to my goal - i WANT to dress likea hoochie non-momma - well at least for an hour before it gets too uncomfortavble andi fall off the shoes that go with the hoochie outfit :D

hehehe. When I went to Atlantic City, one of the girls that unfortunately went with us talked the entire time about how she didn't bring enough "hoochie mama" clothes and how she should have brought this or that. She also was the one walking around the the majority of blisters on her feet due to wearing slip on thongy shoes in the middle of December.

I've joked for a while that when i reach my goal - i'm walking naked down fifth avenue :D except i'll be wearing sneakers... :D hoochie non-momma might be way more fun - we can call it attention seeking dress like a tramp day :D

I'm just not comfortable if i'm constantly pulling at or adjusting my clothes...

Yes! I want to know as well! I saw this girl wearing a tube top and short skirt on Tuesday and it was -11 degrees...she didn't even have a coat. My friend screamed out slut and threw a snowball at her which hit her back. It was rather funny..but I didn't do it..I just laughed.

Wow. That's really sad. Really sad!

Well I know when I was in middle school I wasn't concerned in the slightest about panty lines, but isn't that the entire point of thongs?
