questions about posting pics

How come sometimes when posting as a new or reply post, there is no icon for posting a picture. For example, when making this new post, there is no icon (the symbol with the mountain), but I know there have been threads where I did see it, and have used it.

Also, when I do try to post an image with out that icon, and there is a after it, it only posts a link to the picture.

Any suggestions?

not all the forums support linking of pictures...

the before and after forum does as does off topic but diaries do not...

you can upload images to any thread an it will create a smaller image in any thread but that's it
