Push-ups

Hey guys,

I'm just curious. Will push-ups get you bigger if you do a lot? I'm talking 100+.

My guess is no, but i'm just curious what you think.

Every exercise will get you "bigger". Pushups is no exception. However, don't expect it to work miracles. Maybe a little bit, but you won't see spectacular result's.

Biggest gains from high weight low rep workouts. Static contractions being king, but 5-8 reps being 2nd place. Pushups won't get you as big as you could be, but you'll sure be tight and ripped if you work pushups to the limit.

It is a question of time under tention. I do 1 minute of push ups. The first 55 or so come out pretty easy and then they get tough. I can usually get between 10 and 15 reps before the minute is up with breif pauses between some reps. So that is in my opinion the same as a set of 10 to 15. If you are only going to do what is easy (in my case 55) the effect will be slimming if anything, but more likely it wont do anything

If you really push yourself and struggle with 6-15 reps (even if you did 90 fast reps first) then yes they will help make you bigger. Also look at the arms of army soldiers fresh from bootcamp. Most are not particularly impressive. And to give a most complete argument keep in mind that we all have different genes and what works for one person will not neccesarily work for another.
So any answer to this question is essentially correct for someone but they certainly won't hurt.
