Push Up?

so i bought the perfect pushup things about a month ago and much to my surprise it actually worked!! lol but yea my question is should i do them everyday or every other day? im currently doing 150 every other day. Do you think if i do it everyday ill build up faster?

Thanks in advance :hug2::):):):):eek2::yelrotflmao:

I'm not positive but I believe you can only work out everyday if you don't push yourself to your max and not too many sets. And it's already a must to have a good diet.

It's hard to know how your body will respond to working out everyday. I did that once when I was 14, just shoulder pressing a single dumbbell every single day and I got amazing results; results I still don't have not been able to reclaim to this day at 19 years of age lol.

If you're working really hard right now to complete your sets/reps, then I say drop a set or a few reps so it doesn't tax your body as much and try working out everyday for 2~4 weeks and see if you get more results.

Correct me if i'm wrong, this is just personal opinion i've gathered

As long as you're doing some pulling, I dont have a problem with training everyday. Just listen to your body and rest if needed.

Those and chin-ups work. There's also lat pulldowns and barbell/dumbbell/seated rows.

If you do too much of one without another, you've got to worry about imbalances that will slow down progress.

well what can i do at home to replace pullups i dont have anything here i can hang from and since im in china on business then i all i have it stuff at my apartment theres is a jungle gym outside my apartment but these damn kids or there 24/7 jumping around and they can never seem to get enough of the pullup bar lol. so any other suggestions to replace pullups?

Get yourself some kinda bar that can hold your weight. Place it on the backs of two chairs. Then basically lay under it and pull yourself.

so i just tired what u suggested like 5 min ago and i ummm didn't take the whole
"make sure it can support ur weight" to seriously  and the bar kinda broke on my first set lol so I gotta look for something that wont break for next time lol

Doing proper push-ups does not require 150 of them, 15 to 20 of 3 or 4 sets done right is more than enough. Try lowring yourself and raising yourself every 3 or 4 seconds if they are too easy as it's not the "amount" of push ups you do but the quality. If they are still too easy there are tons of variations which I'm sure would challange you.

There is no need to do them everyday (at least to an intense level), your body needs it's rest to recover. I work out 3 times a week and do them every work out.

I do them slow and controlled its the perfect push up things i bough have four 2minute drills that you should do throughout the day or however you want but you have to complete each set in under 2 min like 20 rest 10 sec, 12 rest 10 sec, and then 8 and you can do that at your own pace i just do them all at once with about 1-2 min rest between wide grip narrow and normal.

Right, but again, I still don't think you're benefiting from your push up routine anymore. If you want to see more change, you are going to have to change up that routine. Put a backpack on your back and fill it with some weight and see if you can still do 150.

Thing is I'm not really expecting any major gains just trying to keep in shape until I get back from China then I can stat hitting the gym again. And I'm here on business don't really bring much I can put in my backpack to weight myself down. I didn't bring anything heavy lol buuut I just thought of a good idea. Ill buy a bunch of water bottles =) and fill the backpack. Thanks for the whole backpack thing I forgot about that =)

Quick question for anyone, I didn't want to start a new thread on it seeing as we have enough repeated questions as it is. At the end of every workout I do 3x10 pushups with pushup bars (so i can go past my ribcage). Is there any harm in doing these after every workout?

A short answer: No.

But, I have to ask what you workout before is, and the purpose of adding the pushups at the end of the workout.

Well without too much detail to read through, on Tuesdays and Thursdays I do chest shoulders and tris. So after my workout I like to see how many pushups I can do within 3 sets. I usually can complete 3x10 without too much struggle. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't over training by doing this.

If you are wanting to add pushups at the end of the workout, make them progressive in nature (meaning you try to do more than you did before). Give them a purpose.

Providing the details of your diet and routine would be cool. It would provide us more info to improve our assistance.

And........:)

Hey!

You may want to consider creating a journal. This way you can ask additional questions, post your diet and training, keep a log of thoughts, etc.

A lot of persons view these logs, and it could assist you, possibly, in allot of ways!

I see that you have been a member since 2005, so you probably already know about the journal section, but what the heck, just a suggestion!

Why not, give it a shot?

ROCK ON!
