PurdueGirl09's Diary!!

Well, I have been working on my weight for about a week now and I have been browsing this forum as the week has passed. I have really gotten some great inspiration while reading people's post on here. Many people talk about their diary, and I have been thinking about starting one. I do keep a food and workout journal and have been writing down my progress in there, but I thought I would like to take the next step and start a diary online. Okay so here is my story:

I am 19 and in college at Purdue (obviously!) and really love most everything about my life...except for one thing: my weight. I have always been an overweight child and have always had a negative self-esteem because of it. Don't get me wrong, I am not depressed in any way and some days I even feel like my body is okay. But most days I wish I was thinner, had more energy, and wish I could go into a fitting room and enjoy trying on clothes. I am a relativley short girl, I am somewhere around 5'3". My starting weight was 160 pounds (I have committed to only weighing myself once a week, and tomorrow is the day--so I don't know if I have lost anything yet!). I would like to lose 2 pounds per week for 4 months, giving me an overall total weightloss goal of 32 pounds. I plan to cut out 500 calories form my diet, putting me on a 1700 cal/day diet and work off 500 calories at the gym using the eliptical, bike, and some light weight training for the bags of sag that I call my triceps! LOL! I plan to update my diary once a day, at night so that I can track my progress, learn from my mistakes, and hopefully find some support during my weight loss journey!!

You sound like you have a great plan, and are off to a strong start. I'm sure weigh in will be good to you tomorrow! Welcome to the world of online diaries! It's so motivating to see people working at it. Have a good one.

Welcome! I agree that you have a great plan on getting to where you want to be! Welcome again! and good luck!

Welcome! My nephew just graduated from Purdue in May 06. I bought him the cutest purdue garden gnome for christmas. Kinda a joke. He ran over one with his brand new car. HEHE.

Good luck on your weightloss!!!

Welcome to the forum! And I wish you good luck! You seem to have a very strong will and I know you can do it! ;)

I wanted to write this last night...but it is finals week and things are a little crazy!! Yesterday went okay...I got a decent workout in. The only problem is that I think my IPod is broken! :( It won't hold a charge and it did some crazy things when I tried to sync it. So, I didn't have my music to motivate me, but I did have my material to study for finals, so it all worked out. I had a very healthy breakfast and lunch, but dinner didn't go very well. Chris (my boyfriend) and I went to Hooters! I ordered a sandwich and only had half and ate some fried pickles and half the fries. I tried to look up the nutrition facts, but Hooters doesn't give out that information. Even though dinner wasn't the best, I tried to eat only half of everything so that the portions were not out of control.

Best wishes to you! As you know, this site is great!
I take it ONE DAY AT A TIME.
Do whatever YOU need to do to succeed!
Enjoy your workouts!

Today went really well as far as nutrition goes. My calories and fat content were both lower than my goal! My fat was also about 30%, so I consider that a success. I didn't get a workout at the gym today because of studying and laundry and everything that goes along with this week, but I am planning to do a bit of pilates after I finish my laundry. Something is better than nothing, I suppose! I am finding it really hard to get protein in my diet, because I live on campus. There is not a lot of good protein choices in the dining halls. The things I opt for are yogurt and milk. The meat choices are not prime cuts, so I usually stay away from them. I am not a fan of the chewy chicken they serve either! I am considering taking a protein supplement, but am not sure if this is a good idea or not? Any suggestions? Unfortunatley, I did not get to weigh myself today, so I will have to check my progress tomorrow! Thanks everyone for all of the support!! I really appreciate it! And good luck with your goals!! More tomorrow....
