Problem Thighs - I need your opinion

Hi Everyone,

I am new here. And the reason I joined is that I need inputs from people who have had the same problem as I am and has successfully resolved their "problem thighs" without surgery.

The over all look of my body is ok except for my thighs. My body is so unproportioned. My waist measure 27 inches but each of my thighs measure 25 inches. I looks so disgusting. I have tried losing weight and making sure I exercise everyday. I run outdoors, on the treadmill, and love the ellipticals. I do a lot of squat exercise as well knowing I have a problem with my thighs.

I have spoken with several body builders and trainers in the gym and all they say is weight-loss is the key. All the bulk on my thighs are just fat, they say, so diet and exercise should shrink them down. But they seem wrong.

I had a 38 inch chest measurement and 32 inches on my waist. I did loose some inches on those parts, now my chest measures 34 inches then my waist 27 but my thighs are still the same measuring 25 inches around. They are just big and flabby and I don't know what to do. I don't want to loose to much weight and end up flat-chested with my thighs still as huge.

PLEASE HELP!!!!!

I have the exact same problem...its called Pear shape, lol...and it sucks. Good Luck and when you find a solution let me know...I think its pretty much genetics...you gain in certain areas first and usually loose in those areas last...its sucks. I've been trying thigh slimming belts while I work out....eh' I cant decide if they help much...just makes me sweat like crazy beneath them.

Lindsey,

Thanks for the input. You have to measure your thighs to see if it works. Cause if the slimming belts make your thighs sweat, it could mean that the fats around them start to burn. You see, no matter how much I exercise, I don't sweat on my thigh area.

I am not certain if it is genetics though it is nice to think that it is. Females in my whole family have thin thighs. They could have flabby abs and arms but never their thighs but me. Makes me feel like the odd woman out. Men in my family though have bigger muscular thighs, which makes me one of them (I guess.).

Thights tend to be one of the last places weight comes off. I always think pear shaped is sexy anyway :p looks brililant in tight dresses- beyonce has big thighs and she looks good :)

Xnatsx,

Slightly pear-shaped maybe. But you know, an overly pear-shaped figure looks like a penguin.

But anyways, I was thinking, since I want to lose the fat from my hips down and not around my chest, what do you think of a sauna pant? Going to a sauna, you lose fat or maybe water around your body but with a sauna pant you only lose at the part of the body that is covered by it.

Check this out:

sorry extremely long link, though I found it in Ebay.

The trainers are correct. Fat loss does not come off in equal amounts around the body. Your thighs are your "pre-determined genetic problem area." The only way to tap into is to continue dieting.

Steve,

Thanks for the input. You are right. It is indeed a pre-determined genetic problem area. I have been this way since I was a baby.

If you are indeed correct that I just have to continue dieting and exercising, then eventually I would end up flat-chested since I burn fat faster on the upper half of my body than my lower half. So does that mean for me to keep my chest size and lose the fat on my thighs is through liposuction? :(

No, the rate of fat loss will slow in your "non-problem" areas.

I have a similar thing, I lose 'size' (Im not sure if I should call it weight or fat or what ever!) in my upper body long before I lose it in my lower body.

Im afraid you can't force your body to shrink in the places you would like. As Steve said all you can do is carry on dieting and it will come off eventually.

If it makes you feel better you can look at this as a good thing, storing fat on your thighs is much healthier then storing it around your tummy or chest. Makes you less prone to heart disease.

I am 5 feet 4 inches in height. I used to weigh 120 lbs. and my thighs were the same as how they are now that I am 30 lbs. heavier. Though I don't count the pounds anymore, I just count inches since that's what's visible and that's what matter.

Does that mean that I should try harder losing weight below 120 lbs? I also am uncertain what is the healthy weight for my height.

Thanks.
