So, this is looking pretty good. I've been contemplating (without putting much deep/serious thought into it) returning to work as a PT over the summer. I'm in a position where my expenses are lower than my income, even though my income is low enough for me to be considered in poverty, so despite being dirt poor, I don't need additional income to keep my head above water. So the return to work is something that I'm not desperate for. Nonetheless, I've been vaguely contemplating it for a while.
The other week, someone joined my gym. This someone did so, so that he could train outside of his own gym, which he runs. We got to talking, and he mentioned that he's looking at bringing on new PT's. Oh the serendipity. So, I need to get my paperwork up to date, including applying for a new/renewed ABN (Australian Business Number) and possibly renewing my insurance, but I've got a great opportunity ahead of me. I won't disclose the exact details here, but I will say that if I go ahead with this (which I very likely will), it's the kind of demographic that I've always wanted to work with, and the deal on offer is one in which the only risk to myself or the own is simply not making money due to the starting conditions being a payment split, as oppose to me starting up as an employee at his financial risk or me starting up as a sub-contractor at my financial risk. It's a win-win.
