Sport potassium chloride - salt replacement

Sport Fitness
is there anything wrong using potassium chloride as a salt substitute?
from what i read up so far says no but wanted to check with you guys also

i wont be using much either

Yeah it's bitter and doesn't taste like salt.. lol.

Then there's the fact it's used for lethal injection that kinda freaks me out. Mix it with regular salt to dilute or just buy a lite version of salt (which is already mixed).

here's my take: are you eating mostly unprocessed foods? no box dinner, microwave dinners, etc?

if so, then don't worry about using a little real salt. you might actually need it.

its when people live off Ramen and pot pies, that their salt intake is already well beyond the USRDA, since both of those typically have at least 50% of your daily allowance per serving. ditto for any boxed dinners, mac and cheese...and that includes Healthy Choice and Lean Cuisine.

Not eating processed foods certainly helps, but one teaspoon of table salt is just barely under 100% of your daily allowance so you could blow your whole day with a few shakes of the salt shaker.

Try not using salt at all. You might not miss it

Salt should be the least of your concerns for many reasons.

For one, most of American and European (and maybe Asian diet for that matter) have large amount of sodium in the food. Watch the sodium intake through this. If you do, then using salt every once in a while won't hurt you or put you over the limit. As a matter of fact, using salt isn't required in most food and in most cases, without salt the food tastes the same or even better.

One time I read a box of noodles, and it had nearly 2000 mg of sodium per serving in it. And stuff like herbs have large amount of sodium in it for no reason. Most large amount sodium can be found in instant types of food such as tv dinners, instant noodles, fast food, pizza, etc.

As for potassium, try eating large sizes of fruits and veggies. I find raisins to have a very high amount of potassium in it. I read mines and it has something like 1100 mg per serving. That's quite a lot, and on top of that other fruits and veggies I eat probably has more, so I think I'm in good shape with that.
