This will be a short bullet point notes rather than a journal. After dilly dallying and getting confused started with something humble and simple today. Will carry it on and add new exercises as I progress.

NAME - Pom.
HEIGHT - 5 ' 8"
CURRENT WEIGHT - 81. 9 kilos.
TARGET WEIGHT - 68 kilos.
TARGET - 32 POUNDS OR 15 KILOS LOSS IN 10 MONTHS.
CURRENTLY EATING OUTSIDE FOOD AS I STAY ALONE AND AWAY FROM FAMILY. BUT WILL GET REFRIGERATOR SOON AND START EATING HOME FOOD.

EXERCISES - STARTING WITH - 45 minutes brisk walking and 3 minutes non stop skipping. no break between the two. ( looking at a sustainable long term workout so no weight training as of now.)

FOOD- paying attention to what I eat.

20th June

Day 1 : 45 minutes of brisk walking and 3 minutes of jumping rope non stop. Sweated like I had just emerged from the swimming pool.

Day 2

brisk walked for 45 minutes and skipped for 2 mins and 48 seconds.
Day 3
The last two days I have been walking in the evening after going back from office. Today I got up in the morning and went for the walk. Came back and again jumped rope and clocked 2mins and 48 secs again like yesterday. Same timing , although i was not looking at the stopwatch. Quite a coincidence. That seems to be my breaking point as of now !! Sitting in office now and feeling great. Feel alert and relaxed.
Day 4
Caught up bad. just walked for 45 minutes after dinner Didnt skip. Feeling guilty.

Day 5

Did my routine. Walked for 45 minutes and skipped for suprisingly the same time again.

traveling hopefully

Day 6

Only walked.

Day 7

DIDN'T DO ANYTHING!!!! Ya ya ... I thought the same. SO MUCH FOR DEDICATION.

Day 8
Walked again. No skipping. Had been planning to incorporate bodyweight exercises in my routine and was doing some research online. Got hold of craig ballantyne's "turbulence training for fat loss".

Day 9
Did the " Introductory level" workout for sedentary individuals and was I sweating fantabolously. tomorrow - walk for 45 minutes again.

hewwo ^^;

Just to start of i luv your name <3 hehe

I'm surprised no one has posted on here yet, but id like to be the first to say good job !

it seems as though you've got your exercise well accounted for =), as far as the eating out part goes, until you get a fridge, just try to pick healthy choices, and in smaller portions.

not sure if you eat out at places such as Macdonald or such my a pretty decent example would be instead of getting that soda, why not get a water ? save yourself all those empty calories that don't even fill you up ?

well, again it was nice to read you posts and good luck =)

Hey Pom!

Sounds like you're doing ok, actually. It's ok to skip a day here or there as long as you don't let it degenerate into weeks at a time. :)

How's the food part of the equation going? Exercise is great but what you eat is key to losing weight.

Hello Michael ... Hope you are doing good. There is a dialogue from the sylvester stallone movie " Rambo 2" where he talks about being expendable and explains the meaning of the word. " Somebody invites you to a party and you don't show up... It doesn't really matter. " I am like that.

I guess I am one of the people of the world whom you would miss even if i am in an empty room with a chair and a cupboard for company. :) People never seem to notice me, which I discovered at an early age. So here also , I am more or less invisible. :)

I was updating my diary continuously but stopped since last few days. Today was my 21st day of my exercises and am moving on to " Turbulence Training bodyweight workout for beginners" from tomorrow.
I have lost 2 kilos till now and lets see how much I lose in the next 9 days before I complete my 1st month.
I don't eat much of burgers or pizzas. nor any soft drinks. Water is THE thing for me. :)
Thanks a lot for your encouragement and best of luck with your goals.

Oh and by the way , I got my fridge and am gonna stock it up i a few days. As of now , there is just milk, bananas and oats. well thats my breakfast.

Thanks Kara

Hello Kara,
I have observed that you are the guardian fairy godmother of this website, fluttering around and sprinkling magic dust of advice and encouragement on people. :) Keep it up and hope to get more advice and encouragement from you.

I am Indian and most of the food I am having might not mke sense to you. but i will put up a post of what I am eating one of these days.

You take care and be good. :)

So after the houdini act , I am back

I disappeared in July after joining this forum in June. I was working out in between but as is a common malaise , couldn't continue with the usual excuses of too much work, parents visiting and etc etc... But I am back.

So here I am, back again. I have built up enough stamina to be in my first week of 10 min bodyweight workouts.
Food is also being taken care of. I try to eat as much decent food as possible. Avoiding oily fried food and more of fruits and the like.

my workout is as follows :

Y squat (15 reps)
T pushup (6 reps on each side)
Stick up ( 10 reps)
Reverse Lunges (10 reps on each side)
Elevated pushups (10 reps)
Jumping Jacks (50 reps)
ALL EXERCISES NON STOP. 30 SECONDS REST AND REPEAT FOR 1 MORE TIME.
WARMUP: HALF THE NUMBER OF REPS OF EACH EXERCISE.

TOTAL : 2 AND 1/2 times

THIS WILL BE DONE FOR 4 WEEKS and then a change of exercise. :)

BEST OF LUCK TO ALL HERE.

P.S. Weight loss buddies haven't been of much help till date. But if anyone wants to join me , most welcome. Let us work towards our goals together. I do only bodyweight exercises though.

Interested people may PM me.

Good to see you back.

BTW, I grew up in Singapore and love Indian food - real, good, Indian food. I'm familiar with probably most of what you are eating. :)

mission weight loss : another good day

Hectic days, as usual. I am looking out for a change of job. Came back at 9.30 in the evening from work and started my exercise. 10 min workout. Glad that I didn't skip it . :)

tomorrow , another early morn assignment but am determined not to skip my workout.
Have to interview the director , India operations of the British Council Library. Its an exclusive interview and i haven't prepared a single question. Idiots informed me at 9.40 now. How much time do hey think I have for research ?
And ya I see both Cord and Kara , you love "burpees" :p I am planning to start them soon.

Kara, I had chicken liver , rice and roti for dinner. Hope you can understand what roti means. :)

Thanks for your support. Do keep in touch.

no exercise today

Again had an early morning unexpected assignment. Had to interview the regional director of the British Library, India. A very sweet old lady called Ruth Gee.

I came to know about the interview late last night and had no time to prepare for the same. still managed a decent job at the end of it :) but the casualty was
my EXERCISE.

I hereby promise in public to exercise early in the morning tomorrow.

I urge people on this forum to send me hate mail if I don't exercise first thing in the morning tomorrow.

Back again : You can't send me hate mail

So here I am again.
I am dripping sweat as I write this coz I am just done with my workout for the day and haven't taken my bath as yet. Now I can leave for office with a sense of satisfaction. :)

Funny thing which I have felt over the last few days is that whenever I miss a workout I feel very guilty and whenever I feel I will not be able to complete the workout due to pain or exhaustion in between, I am always reminded of this journal and my entry.

So now every day it feels like I have a date with this diary and a promise to keep.

Though nobody comments much on my journal , I will slog on and I am confident that by the end of this year I will have some nice " before" and "after" pics to put up. :)

And to all you 212 odd people who have read my journal , a BIG THANK YOU . Keep reading and commenting.

Y squat (15 reps)
T pushup (6 reps on each side)
Stick up ( 10 reps)
Reverse Lunges (10 reps on each side)
Elevated pushups (10 reps)
Jumping Jacks (50 reps)
ALL EXERCISES NON STOP. 30 SECONDS REST AND REPEAT FOR 1 MORE TIME.

Hi Pom,

Thanks for stopping by my journal. You are doing really great, and I am glad you are back at WLF. Always wanted to go to Pune. I have been living in Delhi for the last four years and I love the city. Will be very sad when I have to go back to the States next year.

Will drop by often to see what you have been upto.

Good luck with the rest of the week!

Hello Pom! Your food would probably make little sense to me, but exercise is pretty universal. You seem to do well with it when you are on plan.

BTW, I would never send you hate mail, only supportive ideas here in your diary.

And occasionally poor quality jokes from a very cheap sense of humor...:sifone:

But I digress. I'm just saying hello :seeya:

Friday oct 2 : another workout

I am sitting in office now. Officially , it is my weekly off but I am here because I was supposed to do a "special story" which has run into a dead end now. :banghead:

Since the last week, I had been on track of a shady investment company , that stands accused of being cheating investors of crores of rupees. Yesterday, I finally came across a investor who was supposed to meet me today at some undisclosed location and give me some incriminating documents. But early this morning, that ass developed cold feet and refused to meet me.
So all my efforts are almost down the drain. Bad start to the morning. lets see how the day pans out.

Getting back to the daily grind, I woke up at around 8.30 in the morning to find that power wasn't restored as yet. (There was a power cut since 12 in the night and had to sleep in the heat. I could feel the bed sheet sticking to my body every time I turned in the bed.)

Normally , I have the fan switched on while exercising , so I guess that sees to it that I don't look like I have taken a bath in sweat but today it was not to be. I started my 10 min workout at 9.50 and for some reason it seemed like a never ending, most painful workout ever today but the idea of being honest to myself and bragging rights on this forum kept me going. :)

A river of sweat and mental satisfaction were the benefits from the workout apart from the sad start to the day which i have already mentioned.

So till the next workout, keep exercising and may all be fine with you.

That slipping feeling

I am slipping behind and it is big time. I can sense it but I will get back on track.

My 10 min workout routine dictates that I workout 5 days a week and I haven't been exercising since 2 days ( today included). Its 11 pm now here in India and I have just come back home from office. (15 mins ago). I went out at 8 in the morning. Am getting frustrated thinking how am i supposed to be losing weight when I am eating junk at odd times during the day and have unspecified working hours. But I will fight till the end and make whatever efforts I can.

I don't know how much weight loss I will achieve by the end of the year but I think kilos wouldn't be an unrealistic target given that we have only 3 months more in the year . Would it be ?

workout after a break of 2 days

Greetings to all, from a happy, satisfied albeit still fat pom.

Consumed by guilt for not working out since last 2 days, I worked out last night after coming back from office.

And again worked out in the morning today !! The workout was a bit stressful and midway I had to a take a break for few secs also cause I was feeling as if I wouldn't be able to make it but somehow did it. ( I guess that had to do with the ONLY6 hours of sleep which I had put in.)

I swear, these 10 minutes seem to be the most strenous and never ending 10 minutes of my life as of now.

But I have to solder on and after the end of my 4 weeks of this exercise , hopefully I will see some results.

Tc all. work hard and eat good.
