I posted this in the moms forum but wanted to ask all. Is anyone familuar with these? What if I began that with crunches several x's a wk? My mid section is my problem are.

Also, what abotu Cortisol? i have seen it on TV but is it another gimmick?

Dunno about the cortisol or the pilates, but as far as the abs go, crunches are great for building muscles. When I was younger, I used to do 75-100 a day (!! now I know to let my muscles rest on some days). Anyway, I went in to the doctor for a check up, and when she felt my stomach, I started laughing. She told me, "you really have some strong stomach muscles"! Even though I couldn't see them that well, because I still had fat over the muscles, it sure was an affirmation of all my hard work.

If you want your stomach to be more defined, crunches will help. Also, crunches where you go across (left elbow to right knee) are good too. But, if you really want a nice-looking stomach, weight loss is necessary; you can't just do exercises to get rid of fat in certain places. Genetics decide where you lose weight from first.

Hope that helped! Good luck! :)

don't forget that crunches only build muscle ... they don't lose weight. Only through exercise (cardio) and diet can you lose that excess weight in the mid section.
